What was your mindset beforehand and why would this change it? The police do shit like this, often worse shit, all the time.

In an earlier post, I suggested to someone that joining a police force as a career would not be "the most ignoble thing" he could do. My mindset before was that there had to be good police out there. But the more and more I see of this kind of thing, the less and less I can deny that police are overtly fascist monsters. I regret my past mindset. The use of force shown in this video is blood-thirsty.

that's a little overkill. police can come from a load of backgrounds. but that doesn't mean that most of them aren't on a total power-trip.

I meant these guys (and those like them) specifically when I said that, but you're right about the power trip. Even if they're not being violent, you can see it in their manner and hear it in their tone.

I liked how you analysed the role of the police in bourgeois society through a materialist lense in terms of class struggle. Oh wait, you didn't, just used a bunch of emotionally charged words.
I don't dislike the police because they're "monsters" or "blood-thirsty". I dislike them because they're the armed wing of capital.

I used to watch these sorts of videos all the time, and even the milder ones during Occupy, made me shake in fucking rage. I don't want to watch this one...maybe i will later..

I understand exactly what you mean. Obviously capitalism in general makes me pretty angry but I seldom feel quite so furious as when I'm watching videos like this. It doesn't help that there are always apologist scum saying things like "you have to respect the police" or "if the police tell you to do something, you have to do it, that's the bottom line".

Once you become a Marxist, you are no longer allowed to have an opinion on matters outside of the framework of economics.

The simple fact is that the pigs are pigs, so it seems a bit bizarre that someone is freaking out because you pointed out the simple reality that cops are assholes. It's a valid reason to dislike them, but it's a logical consequence of them being the tools of capital.. so yeah, pretty unneeded.

I'm anti-death penalty too, but I think that keeping it open for police has a leg to stand on.
With great power should come great punishment. That said, I'm not thinking entirely rationally at the moment. I'm still pissed.

At the same time, I hope that those of you who are in favor of the death penalty in this case are also in favor of the death penalty in a case of a serial killer, which unfortunately, some, if not most of you are not. Sort of hypocritical, but that is a discussion for another thread.

But we already had one of those. You know that very awesome 'fuck the police' thread!! It had everything you could desire. But staying on topic, i recall reading about the incident online before, but i had never seen this video.. It truly just reaffirms the idea that the pigs are not our friend, no matter how nice Officer Friendly may act towards you when you're 'obeying' the law don't think that jack booted thug won't hesitate to smash your teeth in with his billy club. They're no friend to the working class, or to anyone for that matter. More people need to realize these things happen every day, and these fuckers get away with it with a slap on the wrist. (usually being sent on leave with pay, then transferred to a desk job). Fuck'em they're all swine, and not the good kind that taste good especially as bacon no sir, although i muse at the idea of turning these scum piggies into bacon.

Reminds me of a story of a man who was in a car crash, was burnt, and was in shock. The police came "to the rescue", instead of helping him they tazed him to death. The police say he shouted "kill cops!" (even if he did, this would not warrant force, let alone lethal, unless he was using physical violence), but witnesses all deny he shouted this.
