Workers Comrades!

The working class in Iran which is part of the international proletarian army is the same as other proletarians around the world fighting for socialism and the overthrow of the capitalist system. The working classes in Iran welcome May Day in situation where the Iranian ruling class are implementing neo-liberal policies, abolishing workers’ rights and increasing poverty in Iran. In 2012 the Iranian government increased wages by 18 percent but on other hand inflation rate increased by 40%. Workers cannot afford their basic needs. There have been many factory shutdowns due to the economic crisis in Iran. On the first day of this year the leader of the Islamic dictatorship of Iran said “this year is a year of jobs and production” but companies and production lines are closing one by one. Many workers have lost their jobs and have joined the eight million strong unemployment queue. Individual and blank contracts have been imposed on workers, transferring most jobs to sub-contracters and taking away the job security of workers. The ruling class has created the most brutal and exploitative situation for working people.

Workers Comrades!

As the ruling class transfers all the pressure of the economic crisis onto the shoulders of working class people, the workers are getting united and active in order to fight for their rights. The dictatorial Islamic republic of Iran is increasingly militarising the workplace environment. The Workers' Council is run by the regime and their role is to report all worker activity to the government. Any complaint or protest by workers is immediately supressed by the regime. The have been numerous arrests and imprisonments, including the following: of Ali Nejati a former board chairman of Haft Tapeh Sugarcane Workers’ Syndicate, the arrest and imprisonment of Reza Shahabi a member of Board of the Bus Syndicate of Tehran City and Suburbs, the trial of Shahrukh Zamani and Mohammad Jarahi, two labour activists in Tabriz city and members of the painters' syndicate and also members of the Workers’ Rights Association, the arrest and imprisonment of Behnam Abrahimzadeh, a labour activist and child rights defender. There have also been arrests and imprisonments of many other workers in Tehran and different city in Kurdistan province. Imprisonment often involves psychological and physical torture to the point that the health of workers at risk, and medical treatment of the prisoners is banned. Indeed the Iranian dictatorial regime deprives workers of the most basic rights. The workers are not allowed to organise any protests or rallies nor to establish unions or other workers' organizations. All these are only a small example of brutality of Iranian regime against working people.

Despite this pressure and brutality by the Iranian government, the workers have not given up the fight for their rights. The workers continue to organise protests, such as those held by the petrochemical workers. The Iranian regime has used many tactics to stop workers establishing independent workers' organisations . However, the progressive and frontline workers have learnt to establish and work underground in factory committees in order to ensure that the workers' struggle leads to victory. This committee [...] can also support the establishment of the independent workers' organisations. These underground factory committees can develop into ta soviet of workers, due to the enormous crisis that the Iranian regime is confronting and also due to the radical nature that these underground committees have. The soviet is a most necessary body, that can deliver political power to working class people.

Active and frontline workers in all industries realize the necessity and importance of establishing an independent labour organisation. That’s why, on May Day, Iranian workers demand the right to organise and the right to protest In addition, workers demand wage increases according to the inflation rate, an end to subcontracts, an end to individual agreements, payment of wages and benefits on time and without any delay, a public holiday for 1st of May, job security, unfair dismissal laws.

The frequent protests of 650 dismissed workers of Shahab Khodro in front of, Car Company, parliament, Presidential office and Ministry of Job and Employments. The protest of 200 dismissed workers of Cast Iron Bar for return to work, the protest of 800 metal workers in front of Presidential Office demanding job security and unpaid benefit. These are only some of the protest after Iranian New Year that shows the situation of all Iranian workers. One of the official website in Iran said 30% of Iranian workers dismissed after Iranian New Year. Therefore one of immediate and urgent task on shoulder of labour activist and labour organisation is to support the demands of workers. The workers activist and labour organisation must participate in these campaigns and protests to support these demands and strength the campaigns to become national campaigns.

Workers Comrades!

The Iranian capitalist regime is facing a serious economical crisis. These crises are getting worse every day. Almost all economic sectors are in recession. The conflict between high ranges officials in government are increasing. All measures by the government to end this situation are failed. Intensification in recession and economical crisis in Iran are inevitable. Iranian society is ready for revolutionary changes. Only working class people solve the crisis by revolutionary methods for interest of all working class and working people. Only working class people can save the Iranian people from all crisis which brought by Islamic capitalist regime of Iran. The working class of Iran must get ready for this task.

Workers Comrades!

The Islamic Republic of Iran take all necessary measures and intensify the repression on May Day to intimidate workers and activist to stop them for celebrating May Day in public. The workers must unify in straggle and use right tactics to neutral the anti labour tactics by Iranian regime. This is the rights of workers to celebrate May Day by protest rally and any form that workers want to and show their solidarity with all workers around world to abolish the capitalist system and establish the socialism.

Organization of Fadaian (Aghaliyat) strongly support the workers right to celebrate the May Day. May Day must be public holiday. Any prohibition and restriction for celebrating May Day must be abolished.

Organization of Fadaian (Aghaliyat) congratulates upcoming May Day to all workers and hope this year is a year of victory for working class people.
