View Full Version : All Gays are 'Fruity'
Bostana

Today my teacher, a Conservative Christian, was talking about common policies of the U.S. that has been debated over the past and the following decades. i.e. Abortion and Gay Marriage.
Being an ignorant Christians as he is he said that Gays shouldn't be not only because it is 'wrong' before the 'Lord' but because Gays are unable to raise a family because it takes the toughness of a man and gentle love of a woman to raise a proper child.
He must think all gays are 'fruity' and 'soft.' Then I thought to myself 'Haven't I heard of a Gay who isn't what all those stereo-types think they are?'
Yes Godlessutopian. What do you and the other Revolutionaries here on revleft think?
Are all gays 'soft' and 'fruity'?

I know some pretty tough gay people.
EDIT: I actually think this thread has been poorly put together.

If it had been me in that class I would have jumped out of my seat and said to the teacher that he was wrong!

It all depends on the person. Some are, a lot more are not. The problem is stereotyping.

i thought fruity meant gay
It's a stereo term for Gays. Basically assuming since they like men they act like girly women, and are weak, etc, etc.

Seriously, why? Are we going to poll RevLeft on all of the hundreds of stereotypes out there?

What's the difference between "No They're Not" and "Some Are and Some aren't"?

Some are and some aren't. Pretty much common sense. This is a ridiculous poll.

No they're not, means that all gay persons aren't fruity, and some are and some aren't means that some gay people are gay, and some gay people arn't fruity.

I know three gay persons and they are all of the fruity stereotype.
All gay people are not like this.
The ones I know are in high school and changed almost the second they "become" gay.
I actually think it's more of a social way to get attention etc (Not everywhere, but in my school it looks like that.)

I've met a lot of gays who are far from 'fruity'. Are you in high school, Bostana? I live in a quite a conservative state, but if a teacher said that in class - he or she would get in a lot of trouble. Why the fuck would you say that while teaching your class?

this is ridiculous. nobody is going to come in and say that all gay men are one way. some are very effeminate and some are very masculine and everything in between.
close this thread.

No they're not, means that all gay persons aren't fruity, and some are and some aren't means that some gay people are gay, and some gay people arn't fruity.
But the question is "Are all Gays soft and fruity" so answering "no they're not" would presumably cover the fact that some are, but just mean that not all are :p though I dunno why I'm even arguing this since this is a pretty pointless question to ask in the first place and nobody's gonna argue that all gays are either "fruity" or not. And I thought my teachers were bad

Ok, people addressed the insane homophobia so I'll take the next: "Whaaaat?!"
So orphans and kids raised by single-moms are not "proper"? If you're not gay I think you should have stormed out of the class yelling "My father died in the first Gulf War you monster" and then run out of the room and take the day off. :)
Spend the rest of the day going to a movie, smoking pot in a park, or find some rough trade. Some really tough rough trade and then bring him to your class the next week for show and tell.

Some are and some aren't.
Just like some heteros are more "delicate" and others aren't.
There are plenty of gay people out there in the world, who are willing to punch someone out, or just confront them with some harsh words if necessary.
I can't believe this was a real question.

I don't agree with anyone here!
In fact, I object to the implication that one has to be gay to be fruity.
I am not gay, yet I am so fruity I ooze fructose and sometimes I'm sticky all over and my GF as to lick me clean!

If he ever brings this up again, you should say, "how come Christian men get to raise children when they're never masculine".
EDIT: actually forget all my jokes, raise a stink. I was going to say that if you couldn't do something public or get students together to oppose him, it'd be easy enough to just file a complaint - then I realized I live in California. I just read that there are practically no hate-crime or anti-discrimination laws in Michigan! So raise a stink the radical way, organize some allies at school and make a stink.

Not all gays are soft...
TV helps perpetuate this idea because TV often use stereotypes for their gay characters.
One of my best friends from high school is gay. He was pretty much a normal guy, except he likes glee, but everything else was usual, likes to play video games, etc.

In fact, I object to the implication that one has to be gay to be fruity.Actually, I agree - what's inherent "fruitiness" anyway. "Masculinity" is really just learning to kill-off personal traits associated with femininity inside yourself. "Femininity" means suppressing traits within yourself that are socially considered masculine.
It's a construct and "fruity" gay men and "butch" women as well as other people who don't fit this construction are threatening to these artificial social roles.

Gays are unable to raise a family because it takes the toughness of a man and gentle love of a woman to raise a proper child.
Lol, so single parent adoptions are out of the question? Should the state implement a mandatory father figure for all single mothers and a mandatory mother figure for all single fathers. See what he has to say about that.

Those who are considered flamboyant are often considered "fruity." That being said not all homosexuals are flamboyant;in fact, the flamboyant types are a minority. Most gay men are your "average joe" type whom you would never suspect of being gay.
So no,not all gay are fruity (not unless you are a bigoted conservative who needs to use dated slurs).
