I thought I would share my feeling about open source software. I have a passion to work with open source free software, specially I am always curious about the open source software. I have been thinking to see how they work and how to modify them to make my own and become a part of open source community to list my name as a useful programmer.

For beginners: I would suggest to start with one that you would like to work on. There are many websites that list the open source software. For example, a number of open source software such as antivirus, video, audio, editors, and so on are available at osslinks.com

You may want to see what already exists out there before doing anything from scratch -- it's the same as with any other endeavor, where it helps to do your research first.

I'll note for the record that one version of Linux in particular is *very* resourceful for the end user, since it streamlines the ordinary administrative tasks that go with various types of server setups. Once set up on a secondary computer you can access all of the server's functions from your usual main computer (laptop) via a standard web interface.

I set up a music jukebox by adding a few additional software components, using TurnKey Linux, and I like it a lot:
