So yeah...there's a private member's bill being debated that would establish a committee to discuss "when a human life begins".

Even the Prime Minister, who promised not to reopen the issue, has said he will vote against this.

Ugh. Not this again...wouldn't be surprised if some of these MPs were inspired by the bill passed in Arizona last week. :rolleyes:

I don't know about how Private Member's Bills work in Canada. But in the UK, cos the legislative timetable is already packed with government Bills and debates around those, a 'lottery' system operates.

Individual MPs have their own agendas and concerns, and if they are lucky, their issue can be put forward. Often they run out of parliamentary time and get nowhere. But not always.

If the Bill has no support in the legislature - and the PM has said he does not support it - then it's unlikely to be enacted.

But if support for this Bill gains momentum, then protests, opposition and agitation, outside of law-making body are gonna be needed.

Chances are though, it's going fucking nowhere.
