When the very wealthy are taxed, they are outraged because the government is taking their money, and they consider this stealing.

What would your response be to these wealthy elite?

Ask them how they made their money. Ask them bow much value they produced. And then come to the conclusion their money comes from the hard work of others, hence they're exploiters, hence they're theives, hence they can't complain.

I once had this debate with a rather arrogant capitalist. He said that taxing the rich more than the poor is unfair because it's taking money away from those who worked harder to earn it (Yeah, I know:S). I told him, "Wouldn't it seem thankful, if the rich gave just a little more back to the government who allowed them to amass all of this wealth they have?"

That shut him up:D

What should we do to the rich? I don't think we should tax them, I think we should take all their wealth, redistribute it to those who deserve it, send them off to work in a farm for 6 months with a bunch of peasants, and then give them a real job. If they resist than we get Peasants to storm them and spare none of these bourgeois pigs.

I think your arrogant capitalist friend shut up because he saw nothing could come from arguing with a someone who has a child like understanding of how the world works.

Wealth does not just exist and it isn't the job of a government to decide how to divide wealth.

There is no wealth until someone with desire, inventiveness and a willingness to take risk creates it. Governments don't allow people to amass wealth. Wealth is created inspite of governments' efforts to punish success.

When a government punishes the people with ideas and drive, those people will look else where for opportunity or they will stop their efforts. When a government tries to divide wealth it destroys the process that creates wealth.

It's as simple as people will do more of what they are rewarded for and less of what they are punished for.
