So, I was at a bookstore and I was sitting down at a table skimming through a book. Another guy sits across from me with a book about "getting women". He left, but left the book there. I took a look through it and I could not believe what I read. It talked about how to manipulate and control women, how to lie to women to get them to bed, etc.
I am not against getting laid or anything (because sex is fun :D) but the book made it seem like women were tools to be used and that all women were the same so the "rules" could apply to all women. Seemed highly sexist to me, and pissed me off.

I am not surprised such books exist: the reactionaries will sell anything that makes them money.
Do you remember what the name of the book was? Sometimes I come across social books which are part of a "comedy" series. Was is an actual advice book or one of those trashy "handguides"?

Doesn´t surprise me either.
There is of course a market for misogynistic literature of this kind.

It wasn't a joke book, it was an actual "self-help" book.
It be better as a joke, though.

If women were more attentive and class conscious, they wouldn't be in this predicament. The only answer to this is that women must adopt Marxism.
Edit: I wasn't trying to be sexist like the person below me suggests.
Order Reigns you're an idiot, stop using strawmans.
It should also be pointed out that I wasn't speaking generally about women, rather those that subscribe to this consumerist culture.

*big round of applause*
Seriously, get the fuck out.
"If women were more attentive and class conscious"...Cause that's not a sexist statement in itself. Totally not ignorant of gender roles and norms under capitalism. *Sarcasm alert*
Now, anti-capitalist, of course this sort of bullshit exists. Look at other examples of sexism, like HOOTERS. Objectifying their employees. I mean, sexism is so prevalent, in literature, film, and everywhere. It's mind boggling.

I'ts disgusting but unfortunately it works sometimes especially if there dumb, stupid, have low-self esteem, young, navie, and in some cases mentally aren't well off.:(
That usually how weak/cowardly men prefer their women anyway.

He's an idiot, therefor, I could care less about his disregard. Additionally, he'll possibly remain disconsolate.

Yeah, stuff like that is sexist. Actually, I have skimmed through a "pickup artist" book before, and it was incredibly dumb.

Don't worry... us woman aren't that completely gullible-- we know all the 'tricks in the book' -- they're not exactly secret.
Unfortunately some woman felt obligated to devise their own counter objections to these type of books and with their own little agenda. One book, quite the phenomenon, is called -- "The Rules" -- and is equally manipulative and dumb, but hilarious and entertaining all the same... (and you can see how long this book has been out.. Jay Leno had dark hair and Matt Lauer had hair..)

There's an epidemic of trolls on Revleft trying to make every thread on women turn into a chance to make someone's statement sound sexist.

Self-help books of all genres are basically a fraud. I mean, there are so many conditions for each situation and circumstance, so no "How to..." guide of rules is going to help anyone get rich, get laid, be happy, etc. You'd have to be a gullible asshole to buy one of those books. Seriously, everyone can't be rich, right? The system revolves around exploitation. So if everyone bought a "How to make a million dollars" book, it wouldn't work. On the other hand, the authors of those books are smart. They are going off of basic human needs - sex, security, happiness, etc. and promising a means of achieving that. And raking in the bucks. Consider the person who was reading the book about "getting women." We can probably assume just because he's reading the book, he isn't getting women.

''Ask men'' is probably one of the most ridiculous websites I've come across. It's full of somewhat similar views to this book.

If you need a book to figure out how to pick up women, chances are you aren't going to be very successful. It isn't a science that you can read into and simply apply what you learn, it is more of a hit and miss kind of a game.
The people who read these kind of books are usually so socially inept that they cannot even use the tips written in them without breaking into a nervous sweat and making an ass of themselves. These books aren't a threat to anyone, they are just a scheme to make money off of socially awkward people.

I can't seem to grasp how statements starting with "if women were..." and "that's usually how weak/cowardly men..." aren't sexist in their own ways respectively.
Please explain.

I don't like books or even people that use women as tools or just to have sex with.
Writers of books like that makes me really angry :(

Dodger had it figured out in early puberty. He watched and learnt from a master. Cyrano, had a bugle that would stop traffic. It afforded us shade in the midday sun. Protected us from unseasonal showers. A Hooter. An Anteater. It was a marvel how he managed to down a pint, we watched in awe. His success with women boiled down to this, he liked them. He and I would go out. ask 100 girls to go out with us. If we got a yes then that was a +.No matter how bad the rejection, we took that as a simple -. If 2 said yes, it was a miracle. Then at 15 we believed in miracles.

The question is, is it their own fault they believe this? If not, how are they idiots?

Yes it is their fault if they are gullible enough to believe that.

@Havee3333333: Are you actually going to explain your position on why you said such a sexist statement or do you plan on ignoring the people who have called you out?
