Race War?

Excuse me if this topic has been dealt with before, but lately I've started hearing about people talking about some "race war" in America more and more.

As we can see, the US definitely isn't a "post-racial" society or whatever fairytale they used to tell. It seems that racial antagonisms are getting even stronger.

So,what are the possibilities for a "race war" to emerge there? Is this really possible, or should it be simply disregarded as tinfoil-hat rubbish?

Won't happen and will never happen. Rest assured, any inadvertent conflict between members of the "races" that happens in the future will be directly caused by neutral economic conditions, not the paranoid fantasy of Fascists.

While racial incidents are common and even large scale public disorders with an racial component do and will continue to happen the answer is no, a racewar like the bourgeois and the racists try to scare and divide us with won't happen.
A racewar was never going to be anything else than a classwar with some picking the wrong team or targets but since the urban population is (although still pretty segregate at places) multicultural and the homogeneous white proletarian communities are mostly rural a direct civilwar style conflict between white and black proletarians won't happen. The almost completly white bourgeois might still present it as such if the dominantly ethnic diverse urban proletariat revolts but a look at the racial diversity of the cops and soldiers who will do their fighting and the rich uncle toms who will tr to passivy the masses should make clear this is class conflict not racial conflict.

The oppression of the African-Americans may cause rioting, which may lead to racially motivated attacks (like, as I stated before, Koreans in LA), but there will never be a 'race war'. Getting people up in arms about an upcoming non-existent 'race war' just divides the proletariat and is dangerous to left.

A ridiculous concept for many reasons. Chiefly among them are the fact "race" is no more than an imagined concept with no concrete basis other than what people want to believe. There is no economic or biological force which conforms one to a "race". Second, not given certain social pressures, people of the different "races" naturally associate, socialize, and work together when they are together, especially when their economic and social interests are similar. It is when this construct is preserved and the systematic oppression of some "races" by others occurs that so called "race riots" break out, as in the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King JR., or the Rodney King verdict. Trust me, there will be no "race war" in which groups will join together based on "race" to fight each other as more radical right wingers often propagate. If anything the opposite will happen as the "races" will join together based on their class and social interests, both bourgeois and proletarian.
