I have been up and down my state recently watching some of the debates that the Peace and Freedom Party have been hosting for third party candidates, liberal and socialist. One thing that keeps coming up is Stewart Alexanders complete lack of socialist credentials. Calling for term limits? Really. Constitutional Amendments. What? Is this the best the SP can muster? I can put up with Peta talking waaaay to fast and former Salt Lake City Mayor "Rocky" Anderson patronizing to the crowds with shouts of "I used to be a Marxist". Thats all fine because I expect this from them. But how can it be that the SP won't even attempt to put there best foot forward. Or maybe this is it?

Election 2012: U.S. Socialist Alexander wants term limits for Congress and SCOTUS

U.S. Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander says, “It is time to amend the U.S. Constitution with term limits on Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court to end the monopoly the Democrats, Republicans and big corporations have on the political process in Washington DC.”

I left SPUSA because I didn't like that simpleton. On top of that, Anarchy sounded more attractive.

The fucked up thing is that Alexander is probably the best candidate they've had in the last 20 or so years.

Especially after that Brian Moore guy..

Moore was a step up from his predecessor, Walt Brown. That guy was like Union Station put every train on the same track and wrecked them all in front of a home for war orphans.

The SP is beat. Every good militant in that organization is eventually kicked out, or quits for another group. Its been that way for a long time now.

There is a great line in the movie Reds. Something about how a certain person thinks that marx "was just someone who wrote a good anti-trust law". Pretty much sums up the SP. Pretty much.

Does chegitz still post here?

I'm not sure, but I have him on facebook, and I think he was possibly kicked out of the SP, or there were at least individuals making moves to have that done.

Stewart Alexander is the lapdog of the Socialist Party's craven maven, Maggie Phair aka Maggie Feigin. Phair, a notorious Los Angeles landlord has compromised people like Stewart Alexander by buying them off with cash stipends and has further weakened and dominated the local and extremely ineffective Los Angeles chapter of the California Peace and Freedom Party by allowing PFP to have office space in the Socialist Party headquarters on Hauser. PFP's tenuous tenancy in that structure is totally dependent on following the SP-USA line that Phair promotes with her ill gotten fortune. Only those registered in Peace and Freedom Party can vote in the party's Calornia primary on June 5th. There are three other candidates in the race, any of whom would be a more advanced and left vote than any wasted on Alexander.

Simpleton is right. Alexander is extremely stupid, he does not know what socialism really is, neither does the right-wing of the SPUSA who nominated him. They like him personally, that is why they nominated him.

If the SP does not get some internal education on what socialism really is, then it will continue to be useless and irrelevant.

We need TV stations/Radio media not meaningless "socialist" political campaigns. When there is a demand for socialism then we should talk running for office, even then whats the point? Even back when workers were more 'radical' in America Debs only got about 7% of the vote. The only reason we should run for office is to gauge what people think about socialism. Right now if an actual socialist was on the presidential ballot I'd say she/he would get less than 1%. We have an information problem here. Capitalism is total. It innoculates us everywhere. TV, radio, the work place....even in our sleep. Heck, even some socialists don't know what socialism is. Most people can't even imagine another economic system. Most people don't even think about such things. Yes, we have an information problem. A problem of perception.

The one piece of good I think comes from this(and the SLP) is that in a lot of states, at least on the coasts, they do end up on the ballot. And what I think is important here is that the average person who goes to vote simply sees that a socialist party is on the ballot. I just like the idea that people see a socialist party on the ballot, that they see socialism on the ballot. Just something to stew in the back of their minds.
