You Tube has been fighting a court case in Germany. Cos people can download free music clips, You Tube may be forced to pay a huge royalties bill, if it fails to do more to prevent users downloading clips.
The assertion of property rights and all that.

Fuck copyright.
They're trying to pass another 'anti-piracy' (more like anti-net neutrality) bill called CISPA, and it looks like it'll pass since no one knows about it and there isn't much of a backlash.

Fucking bullshit.
The irony for me is that a lot of bands who I download are punk bands on independent labels who actively put their music on Youtube so that people will download.

in the end you cant force people to buy stuff they can get easy for free, i mean there are torrents and stuff for a reason. doesnt mean that this court decision doesnt suck, its stupid even from a media coorporation perspective, since youtube means free advertisment done by people you dont have to pay for the advertisment. also i highly doubt that a decission like this means more money for the music industry.

Well I don't understand torrents too well and all that stuff. But the bosses will surely close that loophole sooner or later won't they? Or at least try to? I know a lot of reactionaries are now banging on about the internet, and how it's too democratic for them and stuff.
