I've recently budded an interest in many of the various left wing resistance movements in Latin America In recent decades. However, I personally lack any serious in depth knowledge on these movements besides what is available on Wikipedia.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any books that give an introductory overview of the Zapatista movement and their struggle for the protection of their way of life.

The late John Ross reported on the EZLN in three books published between 1995 and 2007: Rebellion from the Roots: Indian Uprising in Chiapas (Common Courage Press: 1995,) The War Against Oblivion: The Zapatista Chronicles (Common Courage Press: 2002,) and ¡ZAPATISTAS! Making Another World Possible: Chronicles of Resistance 2000–2006 (Nation Books: 2007.)
Also useful is Basta!: Land and the Zapatista Rebellion in Chiapas (Food First Books: 2008) by George A. Collier.

Our Word is our Weapon. A collection of writtings of Subcommadante Marcos
"Much of the book contains political essays, as well as stories and commentary in the style of magical realism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_realism), with conversations between Marcos and a beetle named Durito.
The book was published by Seven Stories Press (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Stories_Press) in 2002."
This book really helped me understand the thinking behind the movement.
