130. Yay, I'm lucky if I get 30 hours a week!

My state (the United Kingdom) isn't listed. But I can do maths, so I'm going to work it out and show my working.

Let's assume that Florida at 97 hours (I notice) has a minimum wage of $10 an hour and it takes 100 not 97 hours so that's a grand; I guess that's a month, not a week, because you couldn't really work 100 hours a week anyway.

A two bedroom house where I live (no idea about flats) is about £500 a month - about $800 I guess so a little cheaper than Florida. Minimum wage is about £6 (about $9) so about 85 hours, ish, for the monthly.

That's pretty appalling really.

Very interesting way of looking at the statistics. Nice.

Actually, I may be wrong but, I think those are "per week" hours.

In the key it says "Above 88 hours per week" so I think that really applies to all the numbers.

Yeah, it's not possible to work that many but I think that's the point. For some people it is actually impossible to find real housing.

id guess at least three minimum salaries to afford a two bedroom flat here in the city. at least. most minimum wage workers live in the outskirts or in substandard housing.

FL's minimum wage is $7.67/hr ... this chart's probably based on the federal minimum to easily compare between states, which is $7.25. So a 97-hour work week at $7.25/hr

$703.25/wk before taxes
$36,569/yr before taxes
$27,792.44/yr after taxes (24% estimate)
$2,316/mo after taxes
$534.47/wk after taxes (4.3wk/mo)

So, in Florida, you'd have to work enough minimum wage hours to make $36,000 a year. That's an absurd workload.

Wow, I hadn't noticed that part... that's really really appalling then. I thought working 85-100 hours a month to pay for your rent was shit.

I'm so happy I'm on the dole and scrounging off decent honest taxpayers.

an 40m2 social rent appartment here amsterdam will cost (subsidized by the state who about doubles your rent towards the once cooperations now privatised corperations who got the houses for a symbolic ammount) at least 300 euro's, so if you are not legible (anymore) for this subsidie but still poor enough to be alowed to live in a social rent house you will need to pay at least E 550,-. Minimum wage for a +23 year old is atm E 333.85 if you work a 40 hours a week full time job so if your on minimum wage at least one full week your working for your rent.

(note also that the waitinglists for a social rent appartment is 8 to 15 years, student rooms will easily set you back 400,- euros for a few square meters and minimum wage is below 23 years old a lot less than above).
