I saw a few threads threads around here discussing the America-Israel alliance, and participated in a few also and until quite recently I was generally under the impression that the America-Israel alliance is a mostly pragmatic choice, albeit one influenced by by the powerful Israeli lobby in the US. However, in recent years it's become more and more obvious that America's support for Israel has become quite detrimental to America's material interests and soured America's relations with other states and this is odd simply because States function only in the self-interest of those who control them, i.e, the ruling class. In the coming years, as Israel is going to turn more and more into a pariah state, not unlike South Africa(this is the trend as I see it, and being an optimist, I don't think it will be reversed; the Zionist Apartheid State has traded security in favor of expansion for so many decades now that unless they drop this expansionist policy they will collapse because of external and internal pressure, but if they do drop it, their elite elite will lose power and they'd rather continue on this course rather than give up power), it doesn't look like the US will stop maintaining Israel(really, the only reason Israel is able to maintain it's existence is because of US aid).
I don't know of any other example of such behaviour by a nation-state. But perhaps there's a simple explanation; pro-Zionist Jewish-Americans, while a small minority(1.7 percent of the population), are incredibly over-represented in the economic, political and cultural elites in the United States. I've considered this explanation silly anti-Semitic nonsense that nazi-types resort to when they run out of racial arguments. Upon further examination though, it doesn't look like a complete myth. For example, 12 percent of American Senators are Jewish(by religion, not ethnicity, probably more if you include partial Jewish ethnicity). So 12 out of 100 Senators.

(http://www.rense.com/general27/jlobby.htm) There are some things in that essay that a leftist would object to, like the whole "baw jews occupied glorious america t should be taken back!" thing. The guy that wrote it is apparently the director for the "Institute of Historical Review", an organization accused of anti-semitism and holocaust-denial, though of course they deny those accusations.
Then there's this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jewish_American_businesspeople). The fact that Jews dominate the financial "industry"(what a productive "industry" it is indeed!)is nothing unknown, Jews have been used for that since feudal times when they were excluded from every other aspect of life in Christian lands except for finance. But the article also shows Jews are very prevalent in newspapers/publishing and Hollywod, in spite of their status as a tiny minority.
And this study (http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/relgwlth.htm). Apparently an average Jew's networth in the US is 150,000 USD, while the average for an American is 48,000 and the average for a Protestant is 26,000.
And there's this site (http://racehist.blogspot.se/2010/09/2010-forbes-400-by-ethnic-origins.html), which is suspicious, it seems to be basically a collection of racist pricks that use phrases like "NW-European-Stock". According to the guy's count, 143 of the 400 richest Americans in 2010 were Jews, and I checked many names randomly and wherever I found references to religion or ethnicity, the person was actually Jewish by religion or ethnicity. The guy's list doesn't seem to be that far off, as this list (http://www.algemeiner.com/2012/03/14/top-10-jewish-billionaires-2012/), for 2012, says that 10 of the top 48 billionaires in the world(world, not just the US)are American Jews by religion.
So, perhaps this is the reason why America is so pro-Israeli even today(and on the orders of the US, all the other Western nation-states are also pro-Israeli)? Because such a huge number(in proportion to the amount of Jews in the US)of pro-Zionist/pro-Israel Jews are members of the ruling class? And because of their vast wealth, power and influence, they are able to sway other elites to the side of Zionism/Israel?
Anyways, if you're gonna reply with accusations of antisemitism against me, please, just drop it. I'm not prejudiced against any ethnic or racial group.
