About six hour ago, I was carpooling with my EDIT : black friend. I accommodated my seminar services at the state university, and we were pulled over by the local sheriff department. The deputy stated we looked suspicious. I'm unable to assimilate a reason for said actions.
When has a black and white man, wearing suits and ties, driving a Chevy Cruze seem suspicious?
The only conclusion that comes to mind is racism. The gall displayed by those of authority should abash those in uniform.

Just call him your black friend.. I don't know if it was racism, but nothing came about it?

When the deputy states : "What are you gentlemen doing in this parking lot, and where did you fella's come from?" I perceived it as a form of subliminal racism.
The lot hosted many individuals that were carpooling, but for some reason, we were accosted by law enforcement officials.
Nothing formal in regards to citations, rather a subliminal message not to come to the area again.
I should note that the area has been a problem with crime in the recent weeks, albeit, we do not look like stereotypical 'hooligans'.

Hello, heck man the USA capitalist political system doesn't only disciminate against black people and oppressed races. There is also hardcore discrimination against people who drive older cars (meaning against poor people who don't have enough money to drive brand new luxury cars). There is discrimination of the young against the older generations. There is discrimination against overweight people, there is discrimination and hatred against many other groups of people.
The USA is a very collective society and if people are not part of the crowd and herd-instincts, they would be vulnerable to be cast out. Just like the song Subdivisions from Rush says: "Conform or be cast out"

Cause for suspicion for US police include: a group of more than 2 young black or Latino males are anywhere - or if one white person and one black person are together somewhere. During the Oscar Grant protests, whenever there'd be a group of young black activists with one or two old white activists, they'd get the hardest and strangest looks from cops - to them it was if they were seeing a group of ballerinas and mud-wrestlers having a picnic. Obviously it's some strange transgression to what would "naturally" happen so something must be fishy? Also young black guys in suits when it's not Sunday morning must be another cause for "a routine traffic stop".

Blacks and whites together tend to be seen as either engagement in some illegal activity or radical political stuff. In the South in the 1930s, blacks and whites from out of town hanging out together were generally pegged as Communists and harassed accordingly.

Just wanna add discrimination against young people also. I just went through a seminar just for 18-24 year old job seekers and its no secret that employers perceive us as irresponsible and high turnover prone. You can't go anywhere without being stereotyped as if judging you as an individual was illegal.
