Damn, should have given this a shot 15 years ago.
Feel so much more right than I did in ages, so much more energy and focus, finally quite in my brain without losing my creativity as I do on weed. For the first time ever been able to do my own taxes.
Took my last pill of the day 6 hours ago so I do feel a comedown starting now but that's only to be expected. Curious how the coming days are going to be, esp if and when it will start to feel less buzzy.
But again, till now it feels like I hit my wonder cure...
Any one else on ritalin/concerta/aderal? Or adhd/add's who chose not to medicate?

I'm on adderal and I love it. I used to drink whole pots of coffee to focus but there's negatives to that as one may imagine haha. With these lovely amphetamines I can focus for once.

Both of those caused me nothing but problems.

They don't work. I had to learn how to remain focused, yeah, it takes me a little bit longer to gain focus, but when I do, I'm great for the rest of the day.

Aderal/concerta are not covered here (damn socialist medicine :D) so no idea how that is but it seems old fashioned (patent free) ritalin is working fine for me, kind of sad though, kids here can also only get ritalin while its really hard for them to stick to the multiple pills spread over the day regime and can become really unbalanced because of that.
How long have you been medicating? Any side effects? How long before it became the new normal?

I've only been taking adderal for around six months but have been on other stuff for years. I find that I've only had good experiences with psychiatric drugs, aside from a few side-effects. I've always found that the benefits out-weighed the costs and that after the beginning headaches after I start something new there's no big issues.

Dumb question, which one is commonly prescribed in the US and often not even legal in europe?

eventually you're going to develop a tolerance and it will not work in the same way, but it still may maintain a significant placebo effect.

Hmm, I used to take ritalin but I couldn't focus on creative things so i started taking concerta instead which works way better for me.
Costs a shitload tho'.

I've been on concerta for the past 7 weeks, first 18 mmg then 37 mmg and as of tomorrow I will be on the 50-something mmg dose. I had a bit of headache in the first week. Other supposed sideeffects would be subdued hunger, so if you have problems with underweight this might be worth thinking of. Me I feel I can stand to drop a few kilos. It might mess with sleeping patterns too, but that doesn't make much difference to me. All in all these are temporary thing's. I've become slightly better at my executive functions but I expect a bit more of an effect with the higher dose.

Im on 10 mg ritalin every 4 hours... sleeping way better (though shorter) than i did in years. Do eat a bit less it seems but I too can more than afford to loose a bunch of kilos so I'm not complaining.
The druggy buzz is now mostly gone, still the change is in my live is phenomenal, so i hope that the tolerance building will hold of for as long as possible. Never developed much tollerance to other drugs (medical or recreative) so i hope it wont go to fast.

I don't want to sound like a party pooper, but these pills are really strong. Taking them like it's your daily amount of vegetables is a bad idea.

He obviously is consulting a doctor to get the prescriptions. He'll be fine.

Ritalin only works for 4 hours, popping multiple aderal or concerta is indeed a bad idea but what im taking is slightly above dutch childrens dose, the lowest dutch adulr dose and miles below US doses.

My sister took Ritalin for ADHD when she was about my age. It didn't work out well...

Weird, been drinking copious amounts of whiskey on top of my medication before since starting on ritalin without a problem, first time drinking beer, only tree pints down and I'm getting all jaw clenching & eye popping fucked up, time to go home I guess... weird shut.

Mystery solved, didn't eat enough, ate a heavy sandwich and now I'm fine again.

I don't mean to offend or be disrespectful but isn't 'adhd' very controversial if not entire bollocks? Have you all seen Louis Theroux - America's Medicated Kids?

I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on it or anyone else for that matter.

Its pretty clear from already only the wide range between positive and negative reactions to ritalin e.a. medication that they try to catch a whole lot of more or less subtly different neurotransmitter problems under one way to limited diagnoses. And yes, (especially in the US) way to many kids get way to early way to heavy medicated.
BUT I felt my whole life there was a "physical" problem with me, after 10 years of fruitless psycho- and behavioraltherapy its a huge vindication to see what miracles a drug can do. The mere fact im treating a panic disorder with amphentamine related drug (I never felt my add diagnosis warranted medical treatment enough but when I developed a co-morbid disorder that actually impaired my live in a serious way I turned to medication) shows me that whatever I have is a very real medical issue "normal" people do not have.
