How do I close an expandable baton?

I got a Taiwan 21" expandable baton it seems great. However I am at home right now and my mom's in(really I am not trolling) and I wanna close it.Now I know how I can close it by hitting it on a hard surface but this does not work. I did it on a bunch of very hard books because on the floor it sounded like crap BUT only the bottom section of the baton closes. I cannot close the other section. Now does that mean that my baton is broken or that I need to do something else?Like should I get out for a while an close the tip part too?

Bit of oil and a good whack with a hammer... not that I would have any experience with the things of course as they are highly illegal here... ;)

Try to oil it up with some wd-40 or something, then try and bang it off of a hard surface, or with a hammer from the top.
