I'm a sucker for violin concertos: I can't make mind mind up between Bruch's VC in G minor or Mendelssohn's VC in E minor as my favourites, although i understand they are not to everyone's cup of tea.

Anyone else out there into this stuff?

The violin is my kryptonite!

Rachmaninov's Vocalise was written for voice + piano, but I find it absolutely breath-taking on violin:

ya bruch and Mendelssohn are great introductions into concertos and that kind of music in general. they used to mean the world to me when i was a kid. sadly I listened each one about eleventy billion times and now the only kick i can get out of them is a kind of nostalgia.
