Just finished watching this epic anime on Netflix called "Elfen Lied". It's a great mix of extreme tragedy, poignancy, and psychological horror.

This series has a lot to do with the nasty side of human nature and cruelty. Not just exceptional monstrous cruelty, but the cruelty that exists within the everyday.

The end of the series was well-done. It was a good standalone ending; it allowed the writers enough room to come back and continue the series but it was a very solid ending in case they never did.

I don't usually like open endings but this ending was actually exceptionally well done. I figure the ending will most likely stay open forever, because it's been about 8 years since the first season came out.

I wonder if Lucy really died in the end, the story seems to suggest that she didn't and it seemed to suggest she might try to get together with Khota. Whatever the case the broken clock striking at the end seemed symbolic of something deeper to me.
