Marilyn Manson Faces Swiss Criminal Probe

ZURICH, Switzerland - U.S. shock rocker Marilyn Manson is the target of a criminal inquiry in Switzerland, after a religious group made a formal complaint about his stage act.

Zurich District Prosecutor Michael Scherrer told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the artist was under investigation for allegedly breaching Swiss law protecting religion as well as making incitements to violence during a concert in the city in February 2001.

Manson — whose real name is Brian Warner — and his band members take their first names from pop culture icons and their surnames from famous serial killers. He also uses the sobriquet "Antichrist Superstar," and is known for his ghastly, cadaverous look and macabre lyrics.


Baptized as a Satanist and an honorary priest in the Church of Satan, Manson has ripped a Bible during previous stage shows.


His act has made him the target of religious and conservative groups around the world, including the Swiss-based Christians For Truth, which lodged the complaint.


Scherrer said he interviewed Manson ahead of another sellout concert Sunday at a Zurich stadium, part of the artist's ongoing European tour. Christian groups and lawmakers in Zurich had tried unsuccessfully to have the latest concert banned on grounds that Manson's views were offensive to a majority of the population.


The rocker rejected the accusations, Scherrer said. Manson cited artistic freedom and said his act was meant to provoke a debate about violence and religion, the official added.


Scherrer said he had yet to decide whether to charge Manson.

i bet these religious idiots have never been to a Manson concert and are using "accounts" from "concert goers" of stuff that Manson does on stage. I have been to a Manson concert before, he opened for Black Sabbath and he kicked ass. Only thing the religious idiots would find "objectionable" was Manson telling us when he said "Do Drugs" to yell "Fuck Yeah!"

I had a friend who met him at Ozzfest, said he was pleasant conversation. Not a fan, but from what I heard he sounds like a nice guy.

I read in the paper a while ago that he spat on a security guard for stopping people coming on stage with him. You know, the security guard HE hired. That pisses me off. :angry:

Actually the security guard kept people too far away, and that was why Manson reacted.

But anyway, I have now been at the concert, and my head hurts like hell, my back has been severly damaged, and I can't eat cause my throat feels like a thorn bush... But it was fun like hell :) !

There were some really crappy woman that warmed up for Manson that sung for an hour things like "Shake you dick, shake your dicks, shaaake your diiiicks", and "motherfucking motherfucker"... Everybody stood completly silent and still, and was totally bored... After about an hour she was finally done and a little break for about 10 minutes occured...

Then the lights went out again... And Manson appeared in a stone-looking chair, and smiling a superior smile like I have never seen before... Everybody went totally crazy, and Manson walked down from this chair and started singing "this is the new shit".. after that it was "use your fist and not your mouth", "great big white world", tainted love, mobscene, and during rock n roll nigger, my girlfriend faded and i had to keep her up, together with a friend that had fainted aswell.. and then (of course) came a big vawe of people trying to get further in the crowd, pushing their elbows in my back, so now i cant straighten my back...(if only i had some painkillers).. So with my fucked up back i had to drag my girlfriend out of the crowd(reminding that this was a pretty hectical crowd) and down to the paramedics... they took her backstage, and i sat besides her during "dope show".. still totally exhausted she ran out so she could see manson again, and at that exact time he started playing sweet dreams, and again everything went crazy... and after that again it was "fight song", where everybody started jumping on top of eachother... i found my friends again and then we went totally ballistic when the beautiful people was sung...

after screaming the lyrics to the first five songs, and the lyrics to the last four songs, the concert was over..
i walked across town trying to help a dude that had just sold his coat for maybe 1/200 of what it was worth, to get home... i asked him where he lived and he pointed a direction and said "5000 miles that way"...

my face is still covered with black makeup spread across my face and i look like shit...


But it was the best concert ever... :)


Note: Manson didn't sing ONE KEY wrong...

yes, it was peaches... and she was cool, untill like about 4 songs later... she performed in one and a half an hour i figured.. after she shouted "thank you thank you" a couple of thousand times, and she still wasn't close to finish, everybody got extremly bored....
