Its age is 5 years

Cleaning and defragmentation of hard disk doesn't help

Put it down! Find a chemical shed and do what you gotta do. I have an ice pick if you need one.

Seriously though I just went through the same thing and spent $300 on a new tower. It seems more expensive than its worth to only get another year or so out of it.

Back up any important data and documents.

Reformat hard-drive

Reinstall Windows

Or, if you don't play games, take a stab at Linux. Ubuntu is pretty new-user-friendly.

Even then, Linux has some pretty cool games available. Just probably not games that are huge and popular.

I don't play games at all and save time for you comrades to give you the truth, revolution won't happen without my writings and it depends of my computer completely  . A year ago the screen of my notebook went out. I use now another monitor but I don't think the problem is because of monitor. Maybe you are right. Perhaps I have to reformat hard-drive.

First I'll pierce through the notebook with a sickle and then I'll smash it with a hammer

My friend has helped me with my notebook.

The problem was with hard disk "C" where the Operation System is. There was no "free space" in it for quick and correct running even for defragmentation. The computer worked very slowly.
But disk "D" has had 50% of "free space". My friend had made next: copied the OS and moved it from disk "C" to disk "D". Now it works perfectly and there isn't need in hammer to smash it.

I hope this experience could be useful for someone else.
