Hi, English is not my mother tongue so I might interpret things the wrong way. In a book that I'm reading there is this line:

"The fate of whistle blowers and noncormists is well known. Those most favored by fortune become the most reticent about the inequities that profit them."

Can somebody perhaps explain the sentence in bold?

Thanks a real lot

I'm pretty sure it means "those with the most success are secretive about the unfair means by which they got it"
Like how a capitalist might hide that they get their money from the labour of workers for example.

Hope that helps.

Those lucky enough to be wealthy become unwilling to confront the exploitation that creates that wealth.
Best I could do.

Those with the most luck in life (ie, those born rich or those that get rich) are the ones who are least likely to say anything about the way they earn that money from the inequality in society.
