A very severe breach of civil liberties, you may say. A worrying predicament, and especially coming from a party that has 'championed' anti-surveillance society.

The article comes with a poll. It seems that the vast majority of the readers of that article think this is a shit idea.
Which is hardly surprising, since this government has been a veritable fountain of shitty ideas, even by borgeouis standards.
I'm waiting for them to try and bring back the workhouses.

I'm waiting for them to try and bring back the workhouses.
Which they will eventually/inevitably. Or even worse Chinese style slave labor (I think workhouses and slave labor are basically the same thing are they?).
If they do I think that will be the final straw....

Funny how the Tories and Lib Dems used to be so fond of the phrase 'nanny state' when they were in opposition, but you never hear them use it now they're in power. The term seems too understated to apply to their policies, after all a nanny is supposed to have the best interests of the children at heart, which the government certainly does not.
