Can someone give me a link to a site where I can find a solid account of how many people were killed in the Holocaust? Preferably one which lists all of the persecuted groups.

I'm getting frustrated hearing people spout nonsense and say the figures were inflated by the "Zionists" in order to get sympathy, (or whatever the plot of the week is).

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if anyone around here is stupid enough to seriously debate the figures of the holocaust. It seems you've been having some conversations with some asshats.

The recognized total number of killed is 11 000 000.

6 000 000 Jews.

I know it's wikipedia, but the sources are listed, just use those.

The wiki is actually very well sourced: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust_victims

It has to be more than 11 million especially with the 27 million that they killed during the invasion of the Soviet Union.

Thanks guys. I just see some comments on news sources and I can't help but start arguing. (I have a weird thing that wherever I see any injustice no matter how minor I have to jump all over it as recklessly as possible.)

Lately though, it has mostly been Arabs denying the holocaust since the whole Israel conflict. While typical Nazis use this to their advantage to push their views.

Those aren't all included in the Holocaust, now are they?

no, in general only camp and prison casualties (be it gassings, execution, hunger or disease) with often also the victims of non-frontline pogroms/massacres are included in the numbers, the east and west frontline deaths are in general counted as war casualties whether they where soldiers or civilians.

The figure of about 11 million people is sometimes mentioned but it is not all clear what or who this includes and how the figure is arrived at. Sometimes one finds the range 11 to17 million. Other estimates of the direct deaths due to his policies is from 15 to 25 million, because many of the estimated 40 million World War II deaths in Europe are attributable to Hitler (although some may be directly blamed on Italy, the minor Axis powers and Russia).

The victims included ethnic Poles, the Romani, Soviet civilia

That's pretty narrow, though, I don't think that you're less a victim of genocide because you died in the forest somewhere rather than in a prison.

Such as massacres in various places in Poland that had nothing to do with the military conflict...

I recommend you read up on the attempts by some people to deny or minimize the mass murder of Jews and other minorities by the Nazis, specifically Deborah Lipstadt's book "Denying The Holocaust". In it, Prof. Lipstadt mentions several organizations and individuals dedicated to the tasks of denial of the Holocaust and the rehabilitation of Hitler and Nazism.

Unfortunately, while I find Lipstadt to be a credible and highly responsible scholar of post-Shoah history, I also find her to be somewhat reactionary (in her account of her trial for libel brought on by the pseudo-historian, crypto-Nazi David Irving--whom she mentions in her earlier book-- she includes an afterword by Alan Dershowitz, an arch-reactionary lawyer, involved in an under-handed attempts to deny tenure at DePaul University to Norman Finkelstein, an anti-Zionist Jewish professor, because Finkelstein had accused Dershowitz of plagiarism.

As I said in what you quoted of me, non-frontline massacres/pogroms are often in included. But hunger/disease starvation by civilians on the russian frontlines not.
