View Full Version : Paul Ryan: Privatize Medicare, eliminate Medicaid and food stamps

The House of Representatives on Thursday approved House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s proposed $3.5 trillion budget resolution on a 228 to 191 vote, largely along party lines.
If Ryan (R-WI) has his way with his proposed budget resolution, Medicare will be privatized and Medicaid, food stamps and many other federal entitlement programs will be eliminated. The cuts under Ryan’s budget proposal, if implemented, would drastically increase income inequality and poverty.

More attacks on the most vulnerable Americans. As someone receiving both Medicaid and food stamps, this would make my life hell. It's no surprise that one of his biggest influences is Ayn Rand.

America is not known for the generosity of its welfare system, depsite its vast wealth compared to many other nation sates. This is horrendous news. And I thought the Ł10 billion cuts Osborne wants to impose on the UK were bad...

The Human Health Department cancelled the medicare program to my father. I tell my dad every day that, this is what capitalism really is. And that the only solution is socialism, and to vote for a socialist party. At least The Green Party. But he watches lots of TV and because of the extreme magical mind-manipulative powers of mainstream corporate TV he doesn't believe me so much.
But what hell the USA is becoming. But millions of americans are suicidal, because they are still voting for capitalist politicians. Americans are so mind-controlled by the ultra-right wing TV that in most states of the Republican Party caucuses, the winners were Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. Either the internal elections of The Republican Party are rigged, or americans in those states are too pro-war and too anti-change, for rejecting Ron Paul. Man if americans hate Ron Paul who is not even a radical socialist. I imagine that most americans still hate marxist leftist politicians. Look at how Dennis Kucinich didn't get the necessary support to stay in power in Ohio.
Man, americans are still too right-wingers. I have seen many people in Facebook telling me: "Cut the marxism crap", this country is suicidal and crazy

I honestly don't understand how people can be so barbaric and heartless, whilst I know he's a capitalist. Atleast some capitalists believe in some form of welfare state. Disgusting.

Indeed, and I hate generalizing and judging people in groups. But have you heard about "The ugly american syndrome", it's about the evil ultra-individualist, anti-people, hateful behaviour patterns of average americans. There is a saying by non-americans that claim that USA is the country with least hospitality, love, friendliness and solidarity of the whole world. That claims that in United States if you fall from a bicycle, nobody will help you and pick you up.
And I think that the theory of The Ugly American Syndrome is generalized in the majority of Americans. I know that blind-patriotism, blind-love for the place where americans are born, blind love and emotional affection toward the USA culture, the food, music and all that destroys truth. But it is safe to assume that there is a generalized "asshole mentality" in America. In most neighborhoods of this country, people hate each other. Maybe that ultra-hate among most americans is really caused by the extreme libertarian Ayn Rand philosophy of life of all americans which is ingrained in the brain of people.
I think USA not only needs a political revolution to replace capitalism with socialism. But at the same time a psychologic revolution and a revolution in the behaviour patterns of most americans from the asshole behaviour of most people in USA, toward a more loving, compassionate, friendly, humane, united, cooperative, sympathetic form of behaving. Like Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro who are real cool, and totally different from the angry, depressive, negative, Kurt Cobain suicidal behaviour of most americans
Something has to give !!!

Ron Paul is even farther to the right than both Romney and Santorum. He represents all-out Randism and has links to neo-Nazis. Ron Paul is for complete privatization of everything, complete autonomy for corporations to do whatever the hell they like. In his ideology, the state should exist solely for the purpose of protecting property rights. He makes the Tea Party look like the Greens.

I agree. I live in Tea Party country and while I don't support the Democrats, occasionally I will actually go to the voting booth and vote for one just to try to keep the more extreme right-wing nuts from going to Albany and fucking things up even more for working people. Unfortunately, the neo-Fascist Tea Party nut still won the last State Senate election. We're so redneck out here that our former Democratic county executive went on the offensive against undocumented workers, conducting housing raids and such, and eventually switched parties and became a Republican. He was very popular. This, even despite a number of anti-immigrant assaults and even murders in our county. The neighboring county, where I grew up, is the most racially segregated in the nation. You'd never believe this was the suburbs of the most cosmopolitan city on earth! But yes, we brought you Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. Peter King is virtually a hero in the town I grew up in. Those are the kinds of people getting votes out here, so I do have to hold my nose and vote Democratic once in a while because we don't have just regular Republicans, we've got the real brownshirts.

The question is though, will your vote make a difference?
I would argue your vote alone will not, and to have any substantial impact on any election you'd have to get sufficient numbers together. Campaigning, persuading people you know to vote XY, etc.
And THAT is a really slippery slope...

Dear friends: The USA is collapsing at all levels, poverty levels are higher, crime rates are higher than ever. And all I know is that USA needs a destruction of the current government, of the present political system, of the whole US justice system. To be replaced by a brand new workers-government, with a brand new justice system and honest authorities. You know why? Because the stupid police, FBI, CIA do not really protect US citizens from crimes, street crimes and from corporate crimes.
You know what is the main job of police in USA right now? to harass poor american drivers with traffic violations and speed limit tickets, to eat donuts, to stand for hours inside retail stores and supermarkets and to harass poor drivers who drive beat up old cars. To harass people at airports with the fascist TSA agents. And to harass poor americans in their poor neighborhoods.
And to protect the wealth of the rich, the properties of the rich, and to prevent a revolution in USA.
The cops, the CIA and the FBI don't care about murders, rapes, home invasions, missing persons if they are middle classes or poor. They only about the big fish, the hot shots, they are only there to protect the rich, and to prevent a rebellion, a revolution and to destroy the Occupy Wall Street Protests.
And on top of all that, the majority of americans are smart for their personal activities, for their professions an skilled labors and domestic chores. But not very smart, confused and too mind-manipulated by the 7 corporate TV news stations of USA into hating socialism and into still trust corporate politicians.
What a stupid country USA is of stupid people who vote for evil politicians like Mitt Romney and Obama-Bomber, instead of choosing Ron Paul, Stewart Alexander of The Socialist Party or The Green Party
If Mitt Romney or Obama-Bomber become our next president (2012-2016), i will see a rise in the garage sales, more 9-11 inside jobs http://www.911truth.org more unemployent, more suicides (Because americans are getting too depressed because of the destruction of our living standards by neocons zionist republicans and blue dog democrats), more homelessness, more poverty, more hunger in USA, more illegal wars for oil, and crime levels on the rise such as missing girls sex-trafficking purposes, more street crimes, more car-robberies, more home invasions, and more banking frauds and corporate crimes such as the ones being done by Goldman Sachs.
AMERICANS HAVE TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT ONLY THRU POLITICS, THRU A REVOLUTIONARY WORKERS PARTY RISING TO THE WHITE HOUSE, WE CAN HAVE A GOOD COUNTRY TO LIVE IN WITHOUT CHILD ABDUCTIONS, WITH LOWER CRIME RATES AND WITH LOWER HUNGER AND LOWER HOMELESSNESS LEVELS !!

The thing is that OBAMA-BOMBER AND DEMOCRATS have been so evil, so fascist, so pro-war, so pro-israel, so like Bush, that when people are stressed and can't see any light at the end of the tunnel, the exploited oppressed and desperate families as a survival mechanism hold on to whatever is "Lesser Evil" of the all evil options. What I mean and having said all this, is that because the Socialist Labor Parties of USA are so poor, so weak, so un-organized and so *unknown* because of the lack of economic funds to finance a permanent advertising, propaganda, marking strategy on mainstream TV and mainstream newspapers, the masses support The Tea Party, Ron Paul or any other lesser evil *known* option.
Because in order for socialism and for socialist parties to be successful in any country, they have to get money, to get funds to advertise the political program of the socialist labor parties on TV and newspapers. As long as socialist parties of USA do not invest in advertising and marketing strategies on TV and newspapers. People will keep on voting for Democrat Party and The Republican Party and The Tea Party
Without money we are doomed. As Tony Montana of Scarface movie said: "First you gotta get the money, after the money comes the power. After the power comes the girl."

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires” - John Steinbeck
This is why my nation will remain available to the Aristocracy to plunder our wealth and labor power because they've manipulated us in a sense to where economic equality is a bad thing. It kills me to say that my countrymen are simpletons and are worthless so long they continue to be exploited by the Aristocrats.
Fuck Republicans and Democrats.

I would argue your vote alone will not, and to have any substantial impact on any election you'd have to get sufficient numbers together. Campaigning, persuading people you know to vote XY, etc.
And THAT is a really slippery slope...
To quote the words of Ken Livingstone, former British Labour MP and Mayor of London: if voting changed anything, they would abolish it...
A bit odd for someone who has consistently supported Labour, and stood in elections. But he did say it, and I think he may have written a book with the same title.
“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires” - John Steinbeck
This is an excellent quotation, and sums up the 'can do' and 'do it for yourself' culture, often associated with America. It brings to mind the play written by Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman, in which the protagonist, Willy Loman, was always going to make it big, and encouraged his sons to do the same. He lied to himself, his wife, and sons. Willy lost everything, and was driven into madness, and ended up taking his own life. It's a devastating critique of American capitalism.
The so-called 'American Dream'. Nothing more than a sham, to keep the workers on the treadmill, memsmerized by false hopes and expectations.
