This has been bugging me for ages and now I must know the answer.

If you call jam jelly, what in the hell do you call jelly?!?!?

You know peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I used to think Americans put a thin slab of jelly (what Americans call gelatin) and some peanut butter in a sandwich together. It still sounds strange even with jam in.

Now I really want to try it that way...

Jam includes fruit pulp and pieces

Jelly is sans fruit pulp

I like jam. Blackberry jam.

Cos I watched a lot of American TV programmes and films on TV as a youngster, I always wondered what peanut butter and jelly/jam sandwiches tasted like. Only in the last few years have I been eating it. And you know what? It's really, really delicious...:)

Yes, it really is.

Over here it's usually with grape jelly, but fuck that.

Eat it with strawberry jam, then try it with blackberry jam.

Orgasm.

Nice one.

I get a crunchy peanut butter made with no added sugar, and have it with strawberry jam. It's well nice. Oftentimes I use bluberry jam too. Also, I have taken to lightly toasting pitta bread, slitting it open, adding a little butter, then peanut butter and jelly/jam. Sometimes I cut the pitta in half, and make pockets filled with the stuff. Totally sick!! :) :)

Fuck that shit. Extra-crunchy peanut butter with grape jelly on wheat bread.

In that one act of discovering the joy of the PB&J you have unlocked the secret to american global domination. Without the ownership of the means to the PB&J the working class will remain mere cogs in the machine.

p.s. Try it with bananas in it! And butter.

Yeah they're awesome. It works with other fruits too apples and pairs are good with peanut butter. It's the sweet and sour thing. Deep fried peanut butter and bannana sandwiches were apparently Elvis's favourite sandwich

Thanks to Blakes Baby that's been annoying me for ages :D

Ah, commas are wonderful things.

"...Thanks to Blakes Baby, that's been annoying me for ages..."

or on the other hand,

"...Thanks, to Blakes Baby that's been annoying me for ages..."

I guess only MI and myself know the truth.

Hold up I just figured out the problem here...jam is preserves...that's what you crazy people call that stuff, isn't it? Fruits preserves...or at least I hope that's what it is because if you don't know the difference between what we call jam and what we call jelly then seriously what the fuck is going on in your country either you're a bunch of eejits or your jelly and/or jam is just wrong

This reminds me of my English class in highschool. I asked my teacher what if "W" is called "double-u" (instead of "wee"), why then is "v" called "vee" and not "u"? Wouldn't that be an inconsistency?

She replied with: "That is simply how it is".

English...

It's written (as opposed to printed) as if its UU not VV and it's pronounced 'oo' and it's based on the Greek letter for Omega (in script). Just because some printer decided it was easier to carve a block in straight lines 400 years ago doesn't mean we should change everything, does it?

You get half-credit for advocating the use of extra crunchy peanut butter.

But grape jelly is the bastard child of satan and artificial flavoring.

I assume both. I know it starts out and ends up a liquid but in between it is gelatinous(almost solid).

There are conserves as well hehe.

On the subject of peanut butter, I have run out of the stuff. And I went to the supermarket this morning, and only forgot to add it to my shopping list like a dumb dumb. So now I am peanut-butter-less :D

And top this: I bought some rhubarb jam the other day, flavoured with Madagascan vanilla. Very tasty :)

I like these options better. Because if w is "doublevee/you" why isn't m "double-en"?

ooh just thought I've got another question about America. When you end a phone call do you say goodbye to the person and wait for a reply?

The reason I ask is because in every film or TV programme where someone is talking on the phone they never say goodbye. They just finish what they're saying and put the phone down. That would be the height of rudeness in the UK, I did that once accidentally and the woman wouldn't answer my calls for a week and when I did she had a go at me and said that was the reason she was angry at me.

I've personally never heard of people who don't say goodbye or something like that before hanging up. That would be incredibly awkward.
