Marx's theory of stages has at times led to the repression of anti-imperialist struggles in third world countries. This dilemna must be overcome through debate on the nature of third world opposition to capitalism. My belief is that the development of complex technology in advanced capitalist countries has made possible socialized industrialization in the third world and that though under essentially feudal governing conditions, underdeveloped nations experiencing globalization possess the revolutionary potential to establish communism.

Communism can be established only on the global level. That needs to be remembered by all the anti-imperialists. With all its vices, imperialism does create a single global capitalist "country". Breaking away from this "world-country" might not be in the best interests of the people now. What the people really need is socialization of the means of production. That may be done anywhere and on any level, down to the level of local communities. The question is only whether the communities that socialize the means of production (that is expropriate their capitalist owners) will be able to withstand police action and/or economic reprisal measures that the core of the capitalist system will undoubtedly attempt.
