With people from street gangs (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/26/italian-mafia-wines_n_1380435.html?ref=world), or whatever. Taking confiscated property, putting capital together with ex-convicts and supporting the setting up of cooperatives, agricultural, retail, manufacturing, services whatever (in Italy its wine). Imagen what that would do to crime, imagen what it would do to help the permanent underclass (the unemployable).
The prison system in the US is horrific, and people coming out of it almost always end up in the permanent underclass (the lumpenproletariat for people that like the old termanology).
Northern Italy (i.e. the richest part of not only Italy but europe), has a strong tradition of cooperative buisiness, and its really nice to see the ideas used in the poorer crime ridden south, especially in this manner.
Obviously we should'nt hold our breath, good policies don't happen in the US.
