I attended a meeting tonight here in Cork against the introduction of a €100 tax on properties in Ireland.
For those who dont know about this, the government has made an assault on Working families and want them to register and pay €100 before the March 31st deadline in order to pay the debt of the EU/IMF bondholders.
This charge will increase, year on year and there is talk of it reaching €1000.
At tonights meeting there was 600 people in attendance. Last weekend there was 3000 people in the Dublin meeting so its fair to say the campaign is gaining momentum.
So far, of the 1.2m+ households 80% have NOT registered for the tax an there is a national boycott under way. This tax also paves the way for water charges.

The campaign group is made up of several leftist organisations including, the SWP (people before profit), Socialist Party, Workers solidarity movement, Workers Party and other independant groups. In attendance tonight were the Vita Cortex workers who for the past 102 days have been occupying the company's premises whom refused to pay them an agreed redundancy.
