It should be well understood by every sound-minded individual that as long as one isolates oneself amongst people of like mind, one will never progress intellectually.

We must constantly strain ourselves, by seeking out argument, debate, and conflicting opinions.

For, my encounters with revleft in the past have revealed that many very brilliant individuals roam these forums (well, at least relatively speaking), and hardly any find residence at that site which I have provided.

What attracted me to the site initially was the very advanced polling feature--You can essentially dissect every poll down through dozens of demographics, to see how atheists vote, how the conservatives vote, how a particular age group has voted, it's very interesting. And the social networking kind of undertone, is also a plus.Obviously, I should note that it is a site driven foremost by pop entertainment. But it has a political section which is SATURATED with mind-boggling ignorance and close-mindedness.

I have never, and this no exaggeration, found such a horrifically high concentration of conservatives as I have on that site. (Then again, I haven't been on the forums of the various Fox News hosts)

Now, this would not have been a problem, if they provided some legitimate arguments, partook in rational, controlled debates. But, with every passing day, I'm left with the opinion that conservatism is fundamentally a reflection of the lack of criticality in thought and/or intelligence, since I have never seen a rational, sound minded, unemotional debate on that site.

It is for this reason that I request your assistance, here:

sodahead.com

The post is called: "More scientific evidence against man-made global warming. Do you still believe Al Gore?" (just copy and paste this in google and it'll bring it up)

So, in conclusion, if you're looking for a cheap laugh, or if you enjoy frightening yourself senseless. Then join sodahead. At the bare minimum, it will provide you with an exaggerated sense of intelligence--That site could really use our perspective on matters, help me out a little...please!

How could you not hear it? lol... far more people than is comfortable actually believe that global warming isn't real (despite the overwhelming effects of climate change presently underway). Typically this position is most endorsed by the Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh crowd.

They're Alex Jones types, they're not going to listen to you.

Isn't that the truth? The only thing that would shock me more than the rhetoric they spew, would be if they admit that they are wrong or, at least, if they admit that they don't know.

Well, if you end up joining the site, give me your screen name and I'll friend you. It's often best to reason with these people together, since they have us outnumbered.

Like GodlessUtopian said... yes, and it's fucking scary just how many people think this.

There's a massive anti-science movement in the US. Apparently conservative pundits are more credible than the "lib'rull media"

[edit]
OP, apparently these dumb-asses don't realize we've exceeded the temperatures in the medieval warm period for the last 100 or so years. The medieval warm period is well-known, the people who published this study must have not gotten the memo.

I'd actually provided a graph illustrating that very point.

But this individual has began discussing the fact that there are greater concentrations of CO2 in the ocean than in the atmosphere...somehow this disproves man-made pollution.

Ah...what he was trying to say was that the ocean emits more CO2 than humans...thereby rendering our contribution very insignificant.
What he failed to consider was that a fine balance had been established in the natural world prior to our industrialization.

Is there some way I can earn the right to post links before my hundredth post?...a considerable portion of my posts have links. It would spare me a great deal of effort.

Unfortunately, no, it's pretty strict. The links thing I mean.

But increasing levels of CO2 (mostly anthropogenic) cause the ocean to increase in acidity. This has been killing sensitive ecosystems like the coral reefs.
