Why does the United States support Israel ? Does the Israel Lobby run the United States Federal Government ? Did the United States support for Israel cause the 9/11 attacks or was the United States attacked because Bin Laden hated Freedom Democracy and our way of life ? Many Marxists Communists and Socialists and even many Muslims say that the United States supporting Israel serves American Interests I don't get this. Do you really think the United States support of Israel helps America ? The truth is that Israel is not a ally of the United States Israel does nothing to help America and American suppoprt for Israel just causes Americans and the United States to be hated and causes Terrorism like on 9/11. I don't buy into the Neocon and Zionist propaganda that Israel is America's only Ally and Friend and a Ally in the War on Terror/Terrorism. Israel is a Welfare State that lives on American Taxpayers Money. The Israelis that I'll talked to think the reason why America supports Israel if because America needs a strong democratic ally in the Middleast this is nonsense.

Because Zionist groups in the US pay a lot of money to American politicians(that's today, mostly). America support for Israel in the Middle East only really became so huge during the 1967 War, which is when they realized that Israel could be an excellent tool to be used for dominating the oil-rich Middle East region. Though by now, American support for Israel is actually beginning to hurt it's efforts in the Middle East, so the whole Zionists-Buy-Elections-For-You thing is becoming bigger than the strategic interests of the American Empire.

it's a useful military base in the middle east and there's a lot of rich insane evangelical christians who think israel has something to do with the rapture.

so yeah i think it's actually not so much about "the Israel Lobby" as much as it is about dumb people all around and above all, american political and economic interests

America supports Israel because its the only true democracy in the region. Most Americans are Christians and so automatically sympathetic to Israel. Support of Israel is not in America's interest. It makes America unpopular in the region.

I wonder how much that's worth considering Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. This is also an objectively false statement. Lebanon immediately comes to mind as another democracy in the Middle East. Also, why do you think a country being a democracy or not has any bearing on whether or not America supports it? America's overthrown democracies before (Iran) and has supported its share of dictators in the Middle East (The Shah, Saddam Hussein, The Sauds, Mubarak, etc)

Support of Israel is not in America's interest. It makes America unpopular in the region.

Mmmm it sure does but that doesn't mean America has no interests in having an ultra-fortified strip of land in the Middle East to launch planes from. Even better when that ultra-fortified strip of land can so easily defend itself.

Genghis (who I am starting to think is a troll considering his opinions are rediculous and seam entirely intended to provoke,)

The US has fought against democracy time and time again, and it has fought with dictators time and time again. Now sometimes it has fought against dictators too, but its all about its own corporate economic interest, EVERYTIME, the US will overturn a democracy and install a dictator if its in its interest, or take out a dictator and put in another one (or a cliant state with a subservient politica structure) if its in its interest.

It has NOTHING to do with democracy, or christianity (whatever the hell that would have to do with anything), its purely in the intersest of domination.

As far as America's interest, well, its in the military industrial complex's interest most definately, to have a huge launching pad and basically an eternal customer that increases demand for weapons.

Nah I don't think he's a troll. Just another one of those really awful dogmatic right-wingers who think the world is a comic book and look at politics like a cosmic struggle between good and evil.
