Are White American Presidents and Politicians any different from George Wallace David Duke or Tom Metzger George Lincoln Rockwell Dr. William Pierce or Adolf Hitler ? We all know that the Founding Fathers of the United States of America were White Supremacists Racists and Slave Owners yet many American Patriots both Liberals and or Conservatives will say that the Founding Fathers were a product of their time period and that all Whites were Racist back then but does this matter ?

It was, essentially, impossible for an African American to be elected president of the United States, before Obama’s 2008 victory, because of racism.

By the standards of today, the founders were, admittedly, comparatively, backwards, in several of respects. A number of the Founding Fathers never owned slaves, including both Sam, and John Adams, Thomas Paine, Alexander Hamilton, as well as less famous figures like Oliver Ellsworth and Roger Sherman. Ben Franklin became the leader of the Pennsylvania abolitionists. John Jay did the same. Washington was privately critical of slavery and emancipated his slaves in his will. Thomas Jefferson is a much more complicated case, he was openly critical of slavery, but owned slaves his whole life (Although, he did ensure they had the benefit of an education.) this may have been partly due to financial difficulties, there’s definitely a certain amount of hypocrisy in his case. It varies. You have to take it on a case-by-case basis. Six years after the Revolution, one third of the States had already abolished slavery. In twelve years, half the country had abolished slavery. Incidentally; there was actually going to be a paragraph on slavery in the Declaration of Independence (Although, Jefferson placed all the moral responsibility on England.) which was, ultimately, removed. As I understand it, the chief advocates of slavery were the representatives from Georgia and South Carolina, for reasons that should be fairly obvious.

you're only half-right, dogg. People might prefer in-groups to out-groups but whether someone defines that in-group or out-group according to skin color is a matter of learned behavior.

I agree with everyone other than 1, the reason there has'nt been a black president until now is that most black people were systemically barred from going that high up until recently, not because people would'nt vote for them.

I agree, its a systemic institutional problem, not a problem of individual "tolerance".

Most were selective white men in that the vast majority of US presidents can have their lineage traced back to the British Isles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_American#Presidents_of_English_descent). This even includes Obama who's ancestors can be traced back to England and Ireland as well as Kenya. This means that people from other European countries such as Italy, France, Germany and Russia have barely had a look-in when it comes to the top job, never mind people with a non-European ancestry.
