Well I've been curious, does anyone wear the Russian Ushanka hat? I recently got one, with an authentic Soviet pin from the 80s. I also have other "Communist Memorabilia" (No Che shirts though, not my thing)

Sounds dumb. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I think the ushanka itself is cool, I'd probably wear a plain one.

I have one from the Yugoslav airforce. My brother-in-law was stationed in Kosovo and found it there.

When I'm in a colder clime I wear an ushanka without the pin sometimes, though I find the old soviet Afghanka to be a really good hat from tropical weather to VA winter, and wear it regularly, though I have one without any sort of pin.

Yeah, i inherited one from my dead grandfather just now. It's quite interesting really, it looks old, i don't know where he got it (most likely not the war... but the USSR did come into Bavaria, so it's possible, don't know).

not unless im in the arctic :):)
I know a couple people who can pull it off, but I imagine the soviet pin would ruin it, no matter how hot you are.

Hipster girls in Slovenia wear them and I'm like this :scared: and then I go like this
I personaly don't wear hats in winter, because I'm a skinhead and hats will ruin my haircut.

I had a grey one many years ago, it was a gift, I can't remember ever wearing it.

I used to have one in the army, but the Finnish version really doesn't look that good.
e: at least I had a black one, not the standard green which is really hideous

I've had a ushanka since I was a kid. Similar to this one:

Nothing political about it. It's just a good winter hat. Very functional, and it looks great. The one I have now looks more like this one, except in reddish brown.

I used to have a brown one made from a rat named tarbagan I wore when I lived in cold country. It was also my subsitute bike helmet and had a cheap string to secure the ear flaps.

What? Skinheads don't have any hair, how can a skinhead have a haircut?

I was under the impression that it was a type of haircut.

The original skinheads aren't bald, just very short hair, preferably sideburns too. Boneheads are a completely different matter.

I have something like an ushanka, I wear it sometimes in snowy areas/times and in the privacy of my house when I feel like wearing it to look silly.

Yes just very short hair. How do you mess up very short hair by wearing a cap of any sort? That's what I love about getting my hair cut short, I can do just about anything and there is no noticeable difference. Wake up and my hair is not fucked up, wear a hat/beanie my hair is not fucked up, go swimming my hair is not fucked up, etc, etc.

yes i do. and i wear a peacoat too(brother gave it to me so i was like, yeah, im done with hoodies for now, a few years ago). they kind of go together since the peacoat has no hood and the ushanka is an all cold weather hat that works just as well in the rain.
now, i work in a warehouse in a giant ass refrigerator for 10+ hours a day and you bet your ass i wear that shit.
but no, i do not wear the pin. never have and probably never will. its just so korny/corny/cornie/maizie.
oh, and its a black 'officers' ushanka. i dont know how genuine it is, and i dont really care, though its ever so slightly too small for my head. like, 1cm too small. regardless. had it for 3ish years and wear it every winder.

I look more boss in my plain black ushanka and leather jacket than half y'all in your big pillow jackets with that ugly fake fur lining on the hood

Closest thing I have is a brown trapper hat, which is really good at keeping my head warm.
However, the weather over the past month or so has been too mild to justify wearing it.

Nope. But I still remember my grandfather with an old ushanka. (he was russian)
He was always wearing one. Not sure what happened to most of them he after died. Probably ended up in some box. (he was buried with one though)

Yes, but only because they are warm. I do not wear them with pins or anything, just a plain brown Ushanka for winter times.
