"Topless Showgirls," Pittsburgh dance instructor Abby Lee Miller teaches her students a "classic" burlesque fan dance, which they are to perform in flesh-toned bras to create the "illusion of nudity." The dance must convey that the children are "hot," "mean," and that men "can't afford" them.

"I like to push the envelope," Miller says. "And this is taking it right to the limit."

No lady, you burned the fucking envelope. And then some.

The very fact that someone even considered this idea is extremely disturbing.

Indeed, exploitation of the child to say the very least too.

The message and example this woman is setting for these young girls will damage them for the rest of their lives. You cant ingrain in a child that their bodies are valued by a dollar bill and they end up healthy women (or men).

I always find it disturbing when adults push small children into adult situations. And I derive that the girls "felt" exploited when they said they felt naked and weren't clothed enough.

Yes, but I would say beauty pageants in general is a culture of sickness...

Definitely. Cos often they subscribe to one-sided canons of what constitutes beauty. And then there's the competitive element, the winners and losers aspect of it all. But that reflects capitalism all round yeah.
