i think they are good musicians but i am generally not a fan of their songwriting. i remember one song (Anthem, but I feel like there was another) was heavily influenced by Ayn Rand.

But worst of all I always thought their lyrics were extremely hammy, despite the fact that I think they are, like I said, talented musicians.

And Neil Peart apparently isn't an objectivist anymore. Now a 'left leaning libertarian' who votes NDP

Not listening to Rush because Rush is a capitalist band is like not eating because all the food provided is sold by capitalist supermarkets, or not cleaning your teeths because toothpastes are made by capitalist corporations like Colgate, Aqua Fresh. Or walking 20 miles instead of using a car to go to work because cars are built by capitalist corporations.

Socialism is not a religion, don't be so neurotic. We still live in a capitalist world, even Cuba is capitalist, even North Korea is capitalist. There is no socialism in this world right now. You won't become an evil Donald Trump, or an evil Mitt Romney capitalist by listening to Rush (Trust me)

Wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt won't make you a socialist. And wearing a Sarah Palin T-shirt won't make you a capitalist.

So don't worry keep listening to capitalist rock bands, keep reading capitalist books and keep wearing clothes made by capitalists. That won't make you a capitalist and that won't overthrow the left-leaning social-democrat government of Venezuela
