My learning style is so extremely auditory that simply reading mentally exhausts me. I mean I can partake in discussions on here without much trouble, but reading books and long essays is so laborious that I can't possibly enjoy it even if I like the writing style, agree with points, and so on. I began reading, and a few minutes later to my surprise I was still on the same page. It is very frustrating. So my questions are:

Does marxists.org have any sort of function that narrates any of the texts?
Is there any kind of program that I can download that will narrate a given text?
Is there a function in e-book readers that narrates texts?

Thanks.

I'm an auditory learner too and the Kindle has a text to speech option. There is VoiceOver for iphone..etc. If you're looking for a text-to-speech program then look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_speech_synthesizers). I use IVONA which I find has a more natural sounding voice.

I'm pretty sure I "read" Reform and Revolution on youtube, so check there too.

Brospierre, might be a silly question, have you had your eyes checked lately? I had same problem many years ago....reading specs sorted it ! I was completely unaware of the problem......

They're are lots of speeches on Marxists.org eg malcolm x which I listen to a lot. I also listen to podcasts a lot at work which is a good way to learn science etc for me, radiolab and freakonomics are not revolutionary but very informative.

There are some very good text to speech programs but you usually have to pay for them. I think that some PDF readers also have a read out feature and I think Foxit might be one of them. Actually, I'll make a PDF and see if it works. Yup, it works. You can just copy and paste the text into something like OpenOffice and export it as a PDF. It's not great though.
