The U.S. military has unveiled its newest approach to crowd control, the Active Denial System, a heat ray that sends out a high-frequency electromagnetic ray. People hit with the ray feel an intense, unbearable heat. The military touts the rays far-ranging capabilities and is looking at many different applications for its possible use.
Marine Col. Tracy Taffola said (http://m.ctv.ca/topstories/20120313/unitedstates-marines-military-heat-ray-weapon-120313.html)at the public unveiling of the system at a U.S. Marines base near Washington, D.C.:
Youre not gonna see it, youre not gonna hear it, youre not gonna smell it: youre gonna feel it.

Cool shit, I remember seeing this in Military channel back on 05, they finally worked out the bugs?
Cannot wait to see how they dance around the legality of this weapon.

Maybe the antifa thugs could invest in these so they can silence free speech without putting themselves in harms way. Well they'd have to rob some of them first, to gain the funds, but I'm sure they'd be cool with that.

I can't wait to see how activists counter this; ice suits, nudity, and so forth. lol.... well, chances are it is another gimmick device and its use will either peter out or public outrage will cause it to be used seldom.

I wouldn't be so sure about the "public outrage" thing. Especially in the US.
Though this is a good sign in some way. If our masters weren't afraid of something, they wouldn't need to invent things like this. I'd be more worried if they weren't inventing new, innovative ways to suppress the people.

True, but sometimes the public gets freaked by the oddest things and something like this seems to have that edge the liberal bourgeoisie enjoy skewering when something goes wrong.

The US government could announce the arrival of flying death-robots for crowd control, and the only outrage you'd see here would be the impotent whining of a few liberals on MSNBC.

Yeah but most Americans don't seem to care that Obama is assassinating US citizens or that he's just signed a law that allows him to kidnap and hold indefinitely(i.e until they die of old age if he wants to) pretty much anyone... new crowd dispersal technology is hardly news-worthy compared to that crap.

I wonder how intense this heat is though, whether it would actually be affective at controlling crowds. Sounds like a lot will go wrong (as usual) and render it another failed instrument of oppression.

Exactly my point, the public gets outraged and whiny at the weirdest things and in accordance with this trend this seems like it fits in the category. I'm not saying a movement to abolish this use will happen just that satirists like John Stewart and company would enjoy slamming something like this when a fuck up inevitably happens.
