yesterday small shoots, and today bleeding hearts

He was a member of the "Communist Youth", the youth wing of the Portuguese Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist predominately).
Today he votes Left-Block (Portugal's Left-Wing coalition ), instead of Portuguese Communist Party, because they invest more in Social matters, such as poverty, abortion, drugs, etc.
