are one of my favorite bands. both the older stuff and the major label stuff is all great. who else likes them a whole lot?

also, as a side note, they used to stalk R.E.M. for fun.

I love their weirder albums. I would put them on at the jukebox in a bar I went to all the time. They eventually removed the jukebox because of that. Sad times.

Im not that familiar with their stuff, but i know they had a huge influence on Kurt Cobain. I might go out and buy som of their albums.

Electric Larry Land might be their most popular but I wouldn't go out my way to buy it. Listen to some of their stuff on line first. A lot of their albums are quite weird like Locust Abortion Technician. Check out the song called "The Annoying Song" on youtube. Also, if you do like them, then check out The Melvins and The Meatpuppets. Both are great bands, imho.

I checked out some of their songs including "The Annoying Song", and so far i like them. I will definitely be picking up some of their records in the near future. And dont worry, i dont mind "weird stuff". The weirder the better.

I`m a little more familiar with The Melvins and The Meat Puppets (again, because of Nirvana:rolleyes:). I have the Unplugged album by Nirvana where they are joined on stage by the Meat Puppets and cover three of their songs: "Plateau", "Oh Me" and "Lake Of Fire". Some other Meat Puppets songs i like are "Backwater", "Predator" and "Aurora Borealis".

As for The Melvins, i really like their song "Lizzy". I also like "Night Goat" , "It`s Shoved" and their cover of "God Of Thunder" by KISS. I have heard a lot of good things about their album Houdini, so might pick that up:)

the melvins and the meat puppets are both incredible bands.

also, it's hilarious that "the annoying song" is what you listened to and liked. that song is probably the 2nd most obnoxious song that they have, behind "moving to florida".

Melvins are great. Butthole Surfers are pretty good too.

I've listened to a few of their songs and liked what I heard. I'm really curious as to where the hell they got their name from though. *just googled it*

The vocals were kinda annoying:laugh: But it`s still a really cool song. Kinda reminded me of "Love Song" by Alice In Chains for some reason.

The singer from the Butthole Surfers was also in a short lived band with Johnny Depp called P.

I love the Butthole Surfers. "Pepper" is kind of one of their more "pop" songs, but that's probably one of my favorite songs of all time...that was my theme song when I lived in Texas briefly. Fitting as they were a bunch of weirdos from the University of Texas, originally.

I used to blast this song too :

A co-worker of mine a while back had "Psychic...Powerless...Another Man's Sac" on his mp3 player, and it was literally the only good thing he had on there, other than a bunch of crappy modern jazz lol. I played it over speakers so much that I was forbidden from playing it ever again haha

Same applies to the Melvins in fact.

eh, I disagree. the melvins have a couple songs here and there that are pretty meh, but they were much, much better at being consistently good than the meat puppets
