Have any of you ever had any near death experiences? If so, share them!

I guess I'll start then. I had a gun pointed at me once when I was in Russia; no idea who it was, why they were pointing at me, or why they didn't shoot me. He was pretty far away, around 40 metres I'd say.

I almost choked to death on a piece of Popsicle when I was like....5. Twas lime flavoured.

Sorry for the lack of excitement.

When I was six I was taken out to sea by a rip tide in Hawaii. My dad swam out and got me, but I was terrified.

I used to live in an apartment.. I almost fell off the balcony (we lived on the 12th floor). I was a baby and the fencing was high enough for me to crawl/roll under it.

I was literally 1 inch away from being hit by a car. I touched it in a desperate cry to stop it and it worked! Scratch free.

I remember a dog was chasing me once.. I dunno if that counts.

Lightning hit a tree and I almost got crushed.

Working in warehouses over the years I've almost died and been maimed several times. Palletized steel racking falling off the shelf and landing several feet away from me and a hack of plywood opened while being loaded and it fanned out like a deck of cards towards me. Bad towmotor drivers have done it to me too- fuck them. Ever been kneecapped by a forklift? Me either and I'd like to keep it that way forever.

I've had guns pulled on me twice but I don't really know the people's intentions. I don't think they were life threatening situations although my life was technically threatened.

Well ...

When I was a teenager I was in a rollover car accident. My car was crushed, all the windows busted out. I woke up with my seatbelt holding me in the air slightly and my head lying on a window-sized rock. My only injury was a bruised knee. The police made me go to the hospital for a CT scan and shit anyways. Or maybe my parents made me. I don't remember, I just know I was in a daze and was shaking uncontrollably.

I've been nearly hit by two different freight trains. I was in the train yards with people. One train snuck up on me. They can do that. They aren't always super-loud. The other time I was in the train yards and a worker spotted us at the same time as a train entered the yard, so we ran across the yard to the exit. By the time we got around a bunch of trains and over like fucking 20 tracks, this train was apparently close and going fast. My buddy jumped the last track and I followed, landed on the other side on a slight hill and rolled onto my back. As I rolled onto my back I saw the train passing on the track I just jumped around 60MPH.

I think there's a few more but I can't remember at the moment.

Lost power completely in the carpool lane of the LA freeway in heavy traffic, twice. Fill in the details, but amazingly we exited safely twice. FUCK CROWD-IFORNIA!

When I got engaged. Second near death experience, getting married. Death can be a sneaky adversary.

I have a few but the one I'm willing to admit, and can remember, was almost drowning as a child. I don't even remember where or when it was. I just remember trying to reach for something it the water and not being able to grab it or being able to get out and then some dude pulled me out. I'm sure that it happened and that I just didn't imagine it. That's the one that bugs me the most.

riding in a car with a driver who was tripping on mushrooms. we were flying down the highway about 20 over the speed limit, he has music pumping, was swerving and was arguing with his girlfriend and just generally yelling and being crazy. definitely thought i was going to die every second for about 15 minutes. i was tripping too which did not add to the pleasure.

I didn't learn how to swim until relatively late in my childhood (well, late for the area I live in), there were numerous times in my life where I was pushed into a pool but didn't know how to swim and had to be pulled out.

Flipped a jeep one time.

Got t-boned by a big ass SUV on the highway in a little four door import.

And, there was that year I spent in Iraq, had quite a few near death experiences then, I guess.

I almost got hit by an ambulance....
That's all I can think of.

I almost got hit by an ambulance

How ironic.

Myself, I nearly drowned once.

Man I hated that shit. People pushing you into the pool when you don't know how to swim expecting you to all of a sudden know how. Fucking terrifying.

I've driven on mushrooms twice, both very irresponsible, stupid decisions on my part.

The first time I was actually coming down, so it wasn't that intense. Still, I was basically flooring it, swerving in and out of traffic like a boss. Basically similar to what you described. Nothing came of it, I got home safely.

Second time was a whole different story. I think I may have told this lame story before. I decided to go for a walk in the park and eat mushrooms. The park was a 15 minute drive away from my house, or something like that. I got super high and then I wanted to go home. But then I was stuck with the dilemma that I really, really did not want to drive, however it would probably be another five hours before I finally shook off the high (and it was late afternoon).

Finally I just got in my car and started driving, and it was the most terrifying experience of my life. I was sweating profusely, twitching, constantly paranoid that non-existent police were following me. If I had been pulled over I'd have been in deep shit. I got to my house and there were cops parked in front of it! I didn't see them though so I quickly ducked inside, locked all the doors and hid in my bathroom, convinced that they would raid the house at any moment (they were actually talking to my neighbors). All in all it was a pretty bad trip. Not a near death experience though, lol

As far as actual near death experiences go, I can't really think of many. I've had a couple close encounters with carniverous wildlife, but that's about it...

I rolled a kayak once too. I guess that counts as a near death experience because you're a goner if you stay in the water up here for much longer than a minute. Luckily there were some people nearby in a row boat and they picked me up.

On a Saturday night, three years ago, I was crossing a big intersection near where I lived at the time. I was walking in the pedestrian crosswalk under a red light, and, out of nowhere, a motorist who wanted to change direction drove slowly into the pedestrian crosswalk, and, when his car hit me, I fell forward onto his hood, fortunately, so he saw me. While I was on his hood, the only thought I had was, "Damn! I forgot to make a will. My heir will only get the insurance." Then the driver stopped, I stood up, off his hood, and he sped away. I did not have the presence of mind to look at his license plate, but that guy, definitely, should not have been driving.

When I was a little kid I was in a wave pool at a water park and it was so packed that when I tried coming up I just kept hitting all the tubes and couldn't get up. Then my sister comes out of nowhere, grabs me, and drags me off to safety.

Just last weekend my cousin and I were at the Sutra Bath Houses in San Francisco. We were climbing around the place and my cousin looked over a cliff type thing and said "we can't get down that way". Of course I responded with "Now we have to find a way." But I didn't know the dirt was actually slippery mud so I take a step and immediately start sliding towards the edge. To make matters worse my cousin tries following me and he starts slipping right towards me and bumps into me, almost pushing me off. Luckily I grabbed a plant and held on for dear life and crawled back up to safety.

Was not too far away from a lightning strike once.

Have had a knife pulled on me a couple of times.

Probably have come close to death by alcohol poisoning around half a dozen times too.
