Hey y'all. I've known about your site for a while, and while I'm not exactly a full-blown Communist, I consider myself somewhat leftist, and, if the speaker was informed about socialism, I would not be offended if called a socialist. I am also Mormon, which may surprise some of you, since Mormonism is viewed as socially and economically right-wing. However, there was once (and still are a few) Mormon socialists out there, and I contend that if anything, Mormon scripture is more kind to socialism than to capitalism. Since I'm not completely communist or socialist, I will stick to the "Opposing Ideologies" forum, but I would still love to discuss religious socialism with you all. I'm not well-versed in Marxist/Communist/Socialist theory, but I do know more than say, Glenn Beck. Anyways, it's nice to finally talk to you all.

I have 2 Mormon friends who are American missionaries where I live. We used to argue about religion and that was a point of tension but now that we stopped it's a pretty good friendship and they're really nice guys. Welcome.

Elysian is quite incorrigible enough to morph into an Anarcho-Buddhist-Mormon...
so better *cross toes* as well Haust.

Really great to see a leftist Mormon, it's a first for me. Most Mormons I know are to the right of Mitt fucking Romney, so yeah. Welcome!

A history of the IWW I read a while ago talked about an alliance between the Mormon church and the IWW in Utah against a right wing anti-Mormon party , the "American Party" in Utah in the early 1900s.

The early Mormons under Joseph Smith seemed to have some elements of utopian socialism.Today though Mormons as a whole seem engrained in US capitalism.

The TV series Battlestar Galactica is based on Mormon mythology.

I cannot agree with the anti-lgbt stand of the official Mormon church.

It is good that Mormons are exploring alternate politics i this time of crisis. I have read a blog somewhere (I forget where) where Mormonism and socialism was discussed and the writer seemed to think that Mormonism, if not the mainstream LDS church is fully compatible with socialism and Marxism.

Hi, just post something crazy in the Religion section and I am sure I will be all over it like flies to the proverbial burned offering.
