I've been recently debating with two people on DeviantArt (I'm Xlavok BTW) on this (http://onyxnocturne.deviantart.com/art/SLUT-272073107) about sex and their apparently "anti-sex" (or they see that being a slut is a bad thin...well to put it clearly their actually slut shammers) I was wondering how to counter their arguments they have or am I once again wasting my time debating with them?

I am Roman Catholic. However, it is prejudice to assume I believe what I believe because of religion, because it has nothing to do with it. I, as a person, do not believe in sex for anything other than reproduction.

That will just further cheapen sex, and is rather minimal, considering that there are far more important and dangerous things which need a cure: the many forms of cancer, AIDs, and life-threatening illnesses, for example.
I am more of a socialist. I would have believed in communism…if it worked, but human selfishness prevented that. All I need do is look at Russia and China to know that. I believe in equal wealth for all, and those that are rich have a duty to give back and help those less fortunate. I am glad I do not have millions of pounds, as other than buying a few small things (nothing big, like a house), mainly clothing, and giving some to the charities I most love (SCIAF, for example), I would not know what to do with the rest of it. We can have our own houses and I believe a family is a family, it has nothing to do with property. I always find this argument silly. Of course sex fulfills an evolutionary purpose, to keep the species going, just as eating merely fulfills the purpose of obtaining energy to keep your organism going. But lets not kid ourselves, people do not have sex to have children. Even when they have sex with conceiving children in mind, they obviously still do it because it is a pleasurable act. The whole reason it is a pleasurable act is because we wouldn't do it if it wasn't. We inherently do not have sex to have children, and I do not think animals do either. We follow instinct, and we higher brained animals are only doing what we are compelled to do because it feels good. So to follow their logic to it's natural conclusion, the act of sex to have children as some sort of "noble" enlightened decision to propagate the species is as unnatural to us as having sex purely for pleasure while using contraceptives to prevent childbirth.

To say it is wrong to have sex simply for pleasure is the same as saying it is wrong to eat food for the enjoyment of taste. If this person enjoys the food they eat, they are a hypocrite and should burn off their taste buds.

This argument also reeks of the notion that we live with purpose, one of them being to reproduce.

I would say you could start by first asking if sex in homo sapiens really is all about reproduction, or far more than that. I'm sure you could find a quick outline on anthropological debate over the sex issue quite easily.
Let us assume that sex in humans IS all about reproducing. Let us ask whether it is anyone's business if people stick to that rule. Should we force monogamy?

I personally don't find habitual indulgence in sex to be healthy. I think it is quite a powerful drug, and holds together many relationships between people who don't like each other. But that's just my choice.
But why should I look down on anybody for that? How does their hedonism effect me? Does this view help me or them in any way?

And then we can ask why almost all, note almost, the people who hold this view direct it at women first and foremost? Does this reinforce the idea that men have to be men and women have to be women; gruff and sexual vs prim and witholded? Is the elimination of gender barriers important, and if so, why?

Never give up in your search for truth. Probe deeper, as deep as you can. The answer is there, just don't be attached to the idea that you already know.
