Have you guys heard about this? Abdo Hussameddin is the Deputy Oil Minister in Syria and there are some claims that he has left the Assad Regime and defected to join the rebels... Now how convenient is this for NATO? To have the Oil Minister on their side.. So that when and if NATO decides to intervene in Syria they will already have a friend in the country's oil industry huh?

If it is true than yet another example at how everything just falls into line for the imperialists. Whenever there seems to be a roadblock or a slowdown something always happens to make their position more feasible... if I believed in destiny I would call it a shallow prankster.

He's probably gambling on an inevitable NATO bombing and the ouster of Assad. He still wants his cushy job and priviledges when the NATO regime is setup.

Hilarious. New York Times promotes the rank of a Syrian defector
So an assistant (musa'id or mu`awin and not a na` ib meaning he is an assistant and not a deputy) to the Syrian Minister of Oil defects and the New York Times makes him Minister of Oil in a big headline.
PS The Washington Post has just promoted the defector to the rank of deputy president of Syria.
PPS This Syrian opposition site claims that the defector fled after evidence was found of his embezzlement. Incidentally, he is a middle-ranked Ba`thist.

I was about to suggest he was bribed but this sounds more likely
