Lauren Lyster from Capital Account, or RT labels bank-bailouts as "socialism"

I'm very perfectionist and Lauren Lyster tends to call the bailout of corporate elites as "socialism". No wonder US citizens do not vote for marxist political parties. Because they have almost no access to clear information and definition of what is a socialist system in a country


Dear friends, I like many of the shows of Russia Today News Network http://www.rt.com/, which is rising in popularity, and air-power. However the problem with them, is the problem of other alternative progressive TV channels such as Free Speech TV, that they attack US Imperialism, Zionism, NATO, Corporations, and US government corruption, corporate elites, concentration of wealth in a few. But they do not advocate a clear-cut solution for the crisis that they expose of Greece, Spain, USA, and other countries.

And I am talking specifically about their economics show Capital Account, which tends to have a sort of *Glenn Beck* mainstream definition of socialism which is state-capitalism. And they do not foment, propose, promote, propagate the ideology of marxism-socialism as the only real solution for world crisis.

They do attack the bailouts of the rich bankers, the neoliberal economic model that destroyed the economy of Greece, Iceland, Spain, USA and other countries. But where this show and other shows of RT fail is at promoting socialism, a workers-state as the real solution for the world crisis of capitalism.

You know my friend, I will quit watching Russia Today News Network. From watching most of their shows, Max Keiser's show, Thom Hardtmann and others, they seem to me too capitalists !!

The real left, which is the left that advocates for marxism needs a TV station like Free Speech TV, or The Russia Today News Network. I know that costs lots and lots of money. But we need more sources of propaganda. The left has lots of websites, but still, many of the marxist news websites are not updated on a regular basis. We need to work a lot harder on communicating, promoting and propagating socialism as the solution for all the problems of the world.

Easier said than done.. what would the TV shows be about? What kind of shows? Do you honestly think you could build up a revolutionary left television station that could do for the left what Fox does for the right?

I got turned on to RT after coming across their coverage of some ANSWER/PSL events. Made me think that this Russian network may just very well be more concerned with what is anti-west and not so much what is news. IMO they use the American left for their own narrow purpose.

You want bombastic, pre-packaged socialist news hour? As long as you don't mind catering to the lowest common denominator and the advertisers that you need to pay for it.

This girl is one of the bourgeoise liberals who are posing themselves as leftists in favor of the poor people. But that's not true at all. You guys gotta realize that there are 2 kinds of lefts in most countries. The rich mainstream reformist left, (Social-Democrats, Green Party, Third Way Parties etc.) and the poor low-income radical pro-marxism theory left (This is the real left), the leaders of the real left are not like this girl.

And she is not even like many other reformist bourgeoise social-democrat mainstream leftists like like Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia Mckinney, Amy Goodman, who are a lot more humble than these rising pop progressive celebrity stars of Russia Today News and other rising mainstream progressive news sources !!

Russia Today is a good news network with interesting programs like Max keiser, The Alyona show, Crosstalk, etc and they do allow a lot of voices to be heard which the mainstream media would never touch. However its main drawback from a socialist perspective is its lack of understanding of what capitalism is, indeed max keiser thinks we dont have capitalism at the moment but rule by an oligarchy feudalism system which unfortunately distracts people from the problem and offers cul de sac solutions like buying gold and silver to deal with it. Otherwise aside from this and a few other criticisms RT is good as is Press tv as well. But a better news channel is Telesur a latin american channel which is excellent and does come from a clear anti capitalist anti imperialist standpoint and is available online in spanish only sadly
