Follow Up of the Day: Anonymous Hacks Panda Security, Posts Open Letter to Sabu (http://geeks.thedailywh.at/2012/03/07/geek-news-follow-up-of-the-day-anonymous-hacks-panda-security-posts-open-letter-to-sabu/)

Members of Anonymous have responded to yesterday’s revelation that LulzSec leader Sabu is now an FBI informant by — what else? — hacking the website of a security firm (http://gizmodo.com/5891175/anonymous-posts-open-letter-to-sabu-on-hacked-website).
Anonymous defaced a dozen sites belonging to Panda Security, a company that allegedly helped Interpol take down 25 alleged Anons (http://geeks.thedailywh.at/2012/02/28/anonymous-vs-interpol-of-the-day/) last month.
The attack came in response to a Panda Security blog post saying that, without Sabu, Anonymous’ capabilities would be limited to simple DDoS attacks. The Panda blog is currently down.
“LOL HE ASKED FOR THE LULZ!!!! HERE IT IS THE LULZ…,” Anon wrote on the Panda website.
Anonymous also took the opportunity to address Sabu directly, writing:
Yeah yeah, we know, Sabu snitched on us. As usually happens FBI menaced him to take his sons away. We understand, but we were your family too. (Remember what you liked to say?)… It’s sad and we can’t imagine how it feels having to look at the mirror each morning and see there the guy who shopped their friends to police.
It seems Sabu wasn’t the only Anonymous operator capable of more than a DDoS attack.

I remember close to a year ago, the buzz on freenet and onion sites warned constantly about lulzsec. It is unbelievable that people thought a hacker group that boastfully posted via twitter and facebook was legit in anyway. It is on facebook, did they think Facebook of all places would not do everything in their power to help the feds if the group was truly a threat? Did the cDc use facebook? Did Doom boast on twitter? No hacker would do such obvious stupid shit. The point is to keep a low profile and cause havoc. Only the worst kind of attention craving kid would join lulzsec to be a "hacker". The group activily encourged using shit like the loic and dll injections was the height of hacking in their eyes.
If an organization dealing in illegal activity has a facebook, then don't fall into that honey pot. Not even the silk road has a facebook.

I'm ashamed to say that I was a member of this twatrabble during the Scientology stuff in '07, and a few years previous. Trust me: It's pure narcissism. They just want to get in the papers. Within anonymous you have a dozen people who know what they're doing, and 1000 people who hang around on the irc channel, join in the human botnet attacks, and take credit for the work of the talented few.
The Lulzsec thing was about publicity too. Most good hackers don't have any sort of traceable web presence. They know better.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Lulzsec and Anonymous to different things.
