What should I ask my parents to get me for my birthday. I have no idea . . . Any ideas? It's this weekend, so I sort of want to find out soon.:)
P.S. We do not have that much money to throw around.
Depends how old you're going to be...

Old enough to be a serious thinker, young enough to watch Tosh.0 and think its funny. You guess because I really don't want to say it :)

As far as I'm concerned, "ageism" is part of what we're against here, so there's no need to be ashamed of your age.

A statue of Stalin and some sticks of incense might be in order. Since you know, we all secretly worship Stalin.

You could make a shrine with porcelain or concrete heads
Stalin - Buddha - Hoxha
Small pottery buckets filled with sand, incense stuck in the sand and burning.
Then reorganize your entire house to follow feng shui
I may just do that.

Statues of Stalin, Hoxha, Lenin, Engels, and Marx. lol
Or maybe I can just buy myself an entire mountain with Hoxha's first name engraved on its side.

"I am not a social-imperialist; I just wanted to get rid of all those annoying tanks. They look much better in Afghanistan anyways."
I think my parents would say that they are not going to waste money for something like that. They are have hidden bigotry against communists.
Comrades, thanks for the advice. I think I already know what I am going to ask for when we going shopping at the very last minute . . . like always. But the restaurant idea sounds good.

You could always go for fiction and just get a copy of the Bible.
I'd get the selected works of Lenin. Bought a 2 volume edition a few weeks ago, printed 1946 in Moscow. I feel like a boss.

One of the good things about progressing from your teens into your twenties is that you become more jaded and cynical.

These kind of "phenomena" often coincides with the current fad/reality programming on MTV. We just barely got over the whole "friend zone" thing. I guess now it's the "teen mom" thing. Could we get a MOD to shut down MTV? Please?

I remember my 15th birthday very vividly. I was living with my grandparents at the time, but they were away on a business trip.
I wanted to be away from my mates. I decided to visit neighborhood where I grew up. I happened upon a small restaurant; things were going pretty slow, I ordered a paella and discussed ETA and Franco with the waiter who was obviously a disaffected young man just out of university not knowing what to do next.
I think it was one of the most influential birthdays I had. I think you shouldn't ask your parents for anything, except to let you have the day entirely to yourself. Get on a bus, go to a part of town you hadn't been in in a while, and treat yourself to a good meal. Try to strike up conversation with the staff. I think you will remember it for the rest of your life.

And now it's Hoxha quote time! In a conversation on the Vietnam War:
"If tomorrow someone says that Vietnam triumphed because 'we helped it', this will not be true in the least. This someone may say he has assisted with such and such supplies and weapons but such a claim is in no way Marxist-Leninist. An internationalist stand is when the aid provided is never mentioned, because some food and clothing, or half a dozen mortars or guns sent you by others, can never equal, much less outweigh, the bloodshed and countless sacrifices of heroic Vietnamese people, who, with their valiant fight, are resisting all the military pressures and tricks of the American imperialists. In our view nobody has the right to seek advantages under the pretext of the aid which he provides."
(Enver Hoxha. Speeches, Conversations and Articles: 1969-1970. Tirana: 8 Nėntori Publishing House. 1980. p. 410.)
The Vietnamese were one of the few to have party-to-party relations with the Party of Labour of Albania throughout its existence.
