Back in the day, 1987-88 the CPUSA used to have youth gatherings in up state NY(?), I think. I always wanted to go one. Anyways it sounds like a spectacular idea that needs to happen more over here. Give us a run down of all the particulars when you come back.:thumbup1:

I edited the title. In upcoming events, it is helpful to post the date and city of the city in the title, it helps people find relevant and current events. cheers!

I understand speakers have now been announced. Anyone fancy a kickabout if I bring a footie? Is there space for this sort of thing?

Sorry, The Idler, I forgot to mention that there's a large park right next to the venue which I'm sure has space for a kickabout. We could use piles of Socialist Standards for goalposts?

The problem here is that it's written in the American format, and seeing how it's a British organisation who is putting it on, I assumed the date would be in British format, so my initial thought was "holy shit, it's going on for two months?! :scared:"

Yeah, sorry theredson, to a lot of us that means the seventh of June to the seventh of August. Pretty much the whole of the rest of the planet except you Yuwesayeans.
EDIT: Thanks TheRedSon for altering it to non-USA date format!

Just a little reminder about the SPGB's Summer School this year which will be held between July 6th (from 5.30pm) and July 8th at Harborne Hall, Birmingham. This year the theme will be 'Protest'.
CONFIRMED TALKS
The Occupy Movement: Ian Barker (Occupy Norwich) and Stair (SPGB)
The Arab Spring: capitalism, imperialism and religion or democracy?: Janet Surman
What did the Romans do for us?: Bill Martin
Protest and the Environment: Glenn Morris
Policing the Protests: Mike Foster
Venue: Harborne Hall, Old Church Road, Harborne, Birmingham B17 0BE
Worldwide, people have reacted to the political and economic crisis with new forms of protest. From the Arab Spring uprisings to the Occupy Movement, activists are rejecting traditional forms of political assembly, and are looking for new ways of organisation.
But what will be the consequences of these new battles in the class war? Will these protests result in any lasting, positive change for the working class? Could they point towards a revolution? Or will they go the way of all reformism and just prolong the capitalist system which traps us all?
The Socialist Party's weekend of talks and discussion will examine protests in all its forms - its aims, methods and effects.

They may be one or two places left but the official deadline for booking has now passed as the venue required a complete list of those attending by July 1st :cursing:
