"[The] prototype drone was flying about 18-feet off the ground when it lost contact with the controller's console on the ground. It's designed to go into an auto shutdown mode...but when it was coming down the drone crashed into the SWAT team's armored vehicle."

Politically this doesn't really mean much but it is somewhat satisfying to see the devices of tyranny crash and burn (literally).

Anyone else notice that the van and the drone look like military machines? Maybe more people should ask themselves, "who are the police at war with?". The answer is obvious.

Reminds me back in Russia when that fascist scum was killed by his own grenade exploding when out jogging.

Amusing stuff.

AH HAH, take that naysayers! this proves why police in every small town in America need a $300,000 armored tank, to protect them when their $300,000 drone crashes

No it matters, It shows off the incompetence of these people with their new toys. Did you know that drone traffic in the military was unencrypted for half of their operational lifetime since their first use? "Insurgents" and other buzzwords were using 25 dollar Russian software to monitor their movements.

I bet the Police don't have theirs encrypted. On top of which, the frequency bands in which they transmit signal are fundamentally vulnerable to jamming or signal overrides. They have been so successful against poorly equipped people because they lack proper EM warfare options, against someone with access to the right tools, say an American with access to a radioshack and some high powered electronics, they'd be easily disabled or hijacked. Some info on this subject has already made its way to freenet.

UCAVS are not likely to be involved in a war with a real opponent because of the fundamental flaws.

My first response, when reading the title, was "what? they have drones now? FFUUU "

A prototype of worse to come, for sure.

Another startling initiative from the men and women of law enforcement, aka state lackeys, doing the bidding of the rich and powerful, in return for gold and silver haha :D
