Day after day, those of you whom live in the United States of America stroll along using the dollar. Those of you in the UK use the pound, you Europeans use the Euro... ect ect (Sweeping generalizations ftl). The money that we use to exchange for different goods and commodities has to be supported by some sort of material? Right? I am really ignorant when it comes to matters such as this, but I guess my question is:

What value does the paper have? Where does it get it's value?

Around a week ago I was roaming around this forum, and I saw a proposition that in a stateless, communist society, the monetary system would be replaced by a system of tickets that would be backed up by the amount of labor you perform. That's what got me thinking about the capitalist mode of monetary exchange in the first place.. So shower me with your wisdom, Revleft. :)

(I also hope that this thread will illuminate the intricacies of capitalism.
