The ad was really strange and stupid (and kind of funny)... it doesnt make much sense for me, maybe I didnt understand it... but racist? I dont know...

If this were an add for a martial arts game....well...fine.
But this is an art for European union portraying a woman being besieged by non-western charicatures. I think it definately has some racialist connotations and it is implicitly drawing upon some "fears" about foreign cutures. It could even be interpreted as pacifying the "non-white/western" cultures by white people....like some modern day interpretation of "white mans burden".
So yeah...definately has the air of racism there. I have to think upon it further to come up with a more eloquent answer.
What the fuck did I just watch?

That wouldnt make any sense... It might look like that, but why would EU have that kind of message? Perhaps the ad is fake...
Im not a supporter of EU obviously, but EU would never deliberately try to convey that kind of message.

I don't get the racist vibe you're getting. What do the Jamaican guy and the Asian have to do with Europe? It's just really stupid, that's all.
The comments on the video though, are pretty interesting. Does anyone in Europe believe in the EU anymore?

It's pretty clear where the racism comes in, we've got 3 people of different cultures who are being portrayed as posing an aggressive threat to the white European, but thankfully the white man prevails and manages to tame their savage instincts. Like Hindsight said, it's a modern version of the White Man's Burden, they are the Other, inferior and untamed needing the assistance of the "civilised" European.

Racism is really big online, but so what? when ever these low lifes actually show up to rallies there is always overwhelming support for antifa. We will always out number them so theres not much to worry about anyway.

Definately racist, and it is beyond me how some people here don't seem to want to acknowledge that. The symbolism speaks for itself, where we see a fair young white lady representing the civilised white world subdueing non white barbarians with her all encompassing intellect.
Then in the end it asks for us all to bond together in the face of these threats, aka white people against ''inferior'' races (their words, not mine). It is evident that Europe is retreating in a petty bourgeoisy castle of reactionarianism.

I think it's more of a case of someone who isn't talented making a shitty video. Most terrible directors rely on stereotypes and clichés. Unconscious racism? Maybe, but I don't think it's a concious thing. I've seen a lot of Europe's more conscious racism and this doesn't match up with that.

i'd say it's the opposite. there's a common pro-eu line in the uk about needing to unite with europe "to remain strong within the global economy". the advert is basically saying "yo we need to be united to compete with south america, the far east and other emerging markets".
which is what "Jamaican guy and the Asian have to do with Europe"

Yeah that'd probably make more sense actually, given what it's promoting

This advert wasn't meant to be racist at all, it just yet another PR disaster waiting to happen for the EU. Basically it was meant with good intentions, just the way its been executed makes it look really really bad. Fucking stupid EU, will they ever do anything without it putting them in deep shit.

i think it can still be racist regardless of intentions tbhWell in general, i agree with all you say about it. Its is a bit of a despicable advert that as many have mentioned could easily get interpreted as a swipe against 'other cultures (and ethnicites)'. I just don't think that is what it is actually trying to say, that's all.
