I was wondering if this forum has thought about implementing a "Users Forum" where those, who are not admins or mods, can post suggestions, inquiries or grievances. I know a few other boards I frequent use similar systems. Maybe even implementing a voting system for mod and admin elections?

We used to have all the things you are asking about;
Users forum:
I started a thread about this in the admin board yesterday/day before, we're discussing bringing it back/implementing something similar. It was removed because it was being used as a hub for drama/trolling/spamming, and doing more harm than good. (though it usually functions ok, when drama starts that board becomes the space for it)
Mod/Admin elections used to be done by a group called the "commie club", which was replaced by "Committed Users" who have less authority than the CC, because the CC was a drama magnet. Originally CUs had the ability to make proposals and shit, but there was no active participation in it, so it went away. Mod/Admin elections are never coming back, I can tell you that for sure. But members are still free to make suggestions for policy, either in PMs to mods/admins or in the CU forum.

There was one but it was removed when users started protesting about other good long time users being banned.

In the mean time, I will use the PM function to suggest stuff!

Really? Why would they have been banned, I'm sure they must have done something really against board policy?

I'm not gonna close this thread, but you guys know somebody will if it turns into a drama-fest.
Some longtime members got banned for trolling/spamming, they were only suspended but when they came back they kicked it into high gear cause they were mad, this got them banned. Then some other members started spamming/trolling because of it, so some of them got suspended/banned.
There were also some minor members banned because they were using the forum games (there were/are (?) RPGs organized on the board) to bring fascists on here to post. And some members got the two things mixed and thought longtime posters were being implicated in the fascist thing.
Every so often there ends up being some drama and some longtime members who have personal problems with the mods/admins stir up a bunch of shit and get themselves and others banned.

Democracy will always be dominated by personalities, and consensus, even modified, can't work on something like a website, because this isn't a real community that we all have a vested interest in.
I do think its funny though, that lots of people talk about "more democracy" for revleft, but didn't participate when it was tried.
Plus, when there are characters who consider revleft to be like "important political work" or whatever, then thats gonna interfere with its functioning. Some people take revleft way to seriously, and want to create something out of it that it is not/cannot ever be.

I don't mean to stir up drama, I apologize if I do, and I won't complain about the thread being closed because of it. I've seen enough drama on other sites, I don't want to be involved with it here.
After you mentioned the whole situation, I inboxed some people and AIM'd others, asking about it, and what I heard seems contrary to what you say:
I heard that some users were banned for being aggressive in questioning the admin team about questionable bans of long term good posters and exposing posts of admins that were against board policy -- ipretty sure there was a screen shot of a sexist comment made by an admin and it was posted and the user was banned for "trolling". I heard that other users were considered to be trolling/spamming when they repeatedly asked for answers and received none, but got banned instead. And I heard that a user was banned for being racist when there was no proof except for the word of another admin who had a private conversation with this person. This is what I received from one person. Noone else has gotten back to me.
They never named names, so I don't know if it's accurate information at all. I know that I haven't had any problems with the admin team here, and it doesn't seem like they'd do that sort of thing.
Were this claims legitimate? Has abuse of power ever occurred on revleft?

The problem with a suggestion "box" is that people use them. For all the stated reasons above it becomes a nightmare. Don't like my thread, suggestion box. Call me out in a thread for making bad analysis, suggestion box. Pictures of cute puppies posted in chit-chat, suggestion box. Too many people *****ing in the suggestion box forum, suggestion box. Please!:(

I think there is fine line between "agressively questioning the admin team" and spamming "why did so and so get banned".
I told everybody over and over again during that shit to just calm down, give it a week, and then try to discuss, but of course, cooler heads did not prevail, and people who would probably not have been banned got banned cause they couldn't chill. And the admin in question got an infraction for sexism, which is what would happen to any other user.
The problem is, once drama starts, users who have problems with certain mods/admins will use the drama to stir up their own shit.
But the thing that is so often ignored is the fact that at first the longtime members who got banned, were not banned, they were suspended, and it was subsequent actions by them and others that resulted in the suspensions becoming bans. Again, because nobody could just wait.
A little while ago I was almost banned, and every body in the organization I was in at the time got banned. I survived because I just shut up and let it go, because I care more about being able to post on here than arguing with somebody about bans or whatever.
Sometimes you just have to be patient and think about how to approach an issue, which is what I did, and I ended up becoming an admin. And then, during this last round of drama, posters who liked me and my politics started calling me a stalinist and all kinds of other dumb shit.
The reality is its all about people being drama mongers, and caring more about their e-ego than the health of the board.

Yes, really. And nope, not against board policy even if it was presented that way. To this day, there was no real explanation for why they were banned. The people who were protesting over it were banned because, well, they had to resort to spamming the board to get any answer over it. Still no answer though. There was talk of some sort of fascist conspiracy to undermine the board on this through the games they have on this and some sort of DDoS attack, but those things were not connected to any of the members that were banned initially or over the users that were protesting over the way that those members were banned. It eventually got to a point where any mention of it got you banned. Also, some members were banned for "out side sources" which contravenes the board policies if I'm not mistaken.

Can I point out that no real answer has yet been given?

I still can't seem to see any real trolling going on with them. Some of the people following them were trolling though. And maybe while you're here, you could direct me to the post announcing it cause maybe I just missed it.

Well I would assume there are records, in terms of posts, of what got these users banned. I mean, I've used the search function and found posts from 3 years ago.
Why not just make a post that has like, the users name and the reason they were banned hyper-linked to the posts that got them banned?

I've noticed a lot of cases where the name and reason was all that was given. No link to the posts.
